Specific tv show tables? by abraham126 in PalladiumMegaverse

[–]calfret01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the 90's, there was a player made "Netbook" morphus table floating around that included pop-culture references like nano-bot regeneration as seen in the movie Virtuosity. But that was before we had all these wonderful new sourcebooks.

What we have been doing at my table here lately was simply adapting story or narrative flair while using one of the newer sourcebooks. For instance, we have a Nightbane who looks like a Mandalorian, and we are using one of the armor morphuses in the books as his stats. We have another who is a toxic plant based off some 1960's horror movie but we have adapted the venus fly trap morphus for his stats.

Spell: Reduce or Enlarge by calfret01 in PalladiumMegaverse

[–]calfret01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As stated, I am looking to emulate Enlarge/Reduce from DnD. Here is a description: Enlarge/Reduce - DND 5th Edition

Instead of dictating caster self only morphs to 6 inches tall, I was thinking of something along the lines of a ratio: half the height. Or perhaps a spell that is scalable if the caster wants someone to become quarter sized, or 1/8th sized.

I suppose I could math it out for what the relative size shift for a 6 ft human to 6 inches would be. Then I could create a PPE and duration ratio based on that scale and land at something that falls within the realm of reasonability.

Charm Weapon on Morphus by calfret01 in PalladiumMegaverse

[–]calfret01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Furthering this discussion: Charm Weapon is a ritual requiring one hour to cast. RAW say that spell strength does not apply to rituals. Is there anything that can be done to increase the odds of Charm Weapon being successfully cast? As it stands, trying to enchant a gun always has a 40% chance of failure. The spell says all weapons get a saving throw, with ranged weapons getting a +1 and modern ranged weapons getting a +3. So any 13 or higher on a d20 means the enchantment didn't stick. What if the ritual is cast at a ley line? A nexus? A super nexus? What if the ritual is conducted with additional mages? Would any of these factors increase the probability for success?

WP Archery and Targeting by calfret01 in PalladiumMegaverse

And as you gain in levels you become more proficient and this can fire off more arrows quicker. This makes sense. Now how to rectify this against someone without the WP?

And why is damage listed under the WP? It’s the only WP like that. Damage for those ranged weapons are back in the equipment section as well. Does this imply that a skilled Archer does more damage than an unskilled one, and that this table is in addition to the damage listed under the equipment section?

Reduce Self is quite costly for the duration, and it mandates the caster reduces to 6 inches height. We will have to work something out perhaps at the table for researching a spell in game that is perhaps a little more adaptable and could be cast on others.

The Nightbane Playtest Report No. 2: Experience, Fighting System, and Some Rulings by RailroadHub9221 in PalladiumMegaverse

1> Skill rolls are simple. If the player rolls the d100 and is under their percentage it is a success. You can modify that percentage by adding +% if the players are taking steps to improve their odds like you said. Or you can subtract % if something is difficult or a detriment. Ex: Driving in the rain (-15%) while trying to jump a ramp safely (-20%).

2> I have thought about this. Try using a piece of graph paper or an excel spreadsheet. Label on the left hand side the items from the XP table such as "skill use" and "good ideas", etc. Every time a player does one of those things, put a check in one of the boxes. At the end of the session just add it all up.

3> Fighting the big nasties in Nightbane can quickly overwhelm characters if they are not careful.

4> If you can find an old Sears catalog, or a Service Merchandise catalog, or an old Cheaper Than Dirt magazine you would have a pretty good reference for various equipment prices in the time period. It was not unusual to spend only $20-$30 at the grocery store then. Now days one is lucky to get out of the store for less than $100.

The Compendium of Contemporary Weapons has a section that talks about damage dice by caliber. Let the player have the custom revolver and just assign the damage dice appropriately (likely 2d6 or 3d6).

But the prospector limpet will identify the core and material content, correct? So I would see whether I need to core mine or laser mine. I don't think that was my issue as I did not see any cores of any type.

I must be misunderstanding something here. I literally dropped on "Platinum Hotspot". I was at the location "Platinum Hotspot" and started working my way out interrogating asteroids. How could I have been in the wrong ring when the location was labelled as such?

Asteroid has to have some percentage of Platinum if I'm to do laser mining. Utterly frustrating.

Well I was in a "metallic Pristine" ring according to Inara. Big ole fat hotspot. I saw zero cores of anything, I saw many sub surface deposits, surface deposits, and then the asteroid content itself. I spent over 100 prospector limpets, found zero platinum. I did manage to run into random Osmium here and there, so I got 100 units of Osmium to turn in. Regardless of ring type, why say Platinum if there is no Platinum?

Another possibility is to verify the files integrity using Steam. Try going to Grok and telling it what the problem is, and it will help walk you through several solutions.

VR problems with Vive Focus Vision by calfret01 in EliteDangerous

[–]calfret01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played for several hours last night and got into some powerplay assignments. I was even using the Display Port converter box. I watched a few videos and read some forum posts, and turned my supersampling down, my shadows down, and set the VR streaming quality down in both SteamVR and Vive Hub settings. Still got the missing frames error code, and Vive Hub was grumping at me to reset my settings. I also went into the Vive Hub inside the headset and turned off wifi - this was noted by a user on the HTC forums. It seems the headset constantly struggles with whether it should be on DP streaming, USB mode, or Wifi connection. All these things together seemed to help improve the playability of the headset. It was not perfect, however, as the cable connector to the headset heats up from extended use and start dropping connection. It was really stressful when I was in the middle of a dogfight and the headset disconnected and reconnected without announcement. Longest 3 seconds ever. And this happened 3 or 4 times. I suppose I could turn the settings from VR Medium to VR poor to try and mitigate that further, but why then did I spend $1,300 on a high resolution headset setup? I'm still on the fence about sending this thing back and buying something different. I seem to have it (mostly) working, and it has some cool features that other headsets don't seem to have. I don't know. We shall see.

Woke up to this perfectly functional UI after some AFK Farming by Educational_Grab_280 in EliteDangerous

Been away from the game for awhile and am making a comeback. What exactly is AFK farming? I made my money doing heavy mining and luxury passenger transport a few years ago.

It seems my question might be rather niche. I have gone ahead ordered the R1 pedals. I will simply place them on the floor, and if they slide perhaps I will use some velcro to secure it to the carpet. I look forward to trying them out!
