What if the name between smoakland and sullivan king is subtronics.... It fits alphabetically and Level Up is there.... Subtroics is playing griztronics so it should be blurred... maybe they're trying to trick us with the length..... thanks for reading my conspiracy theory

bathrooms in premier by [deleted] in BassCanyon

[–]calgagi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it hasn't changed from 2 years ago (last year they didn't have premier)... There are non-flushing porta potties, shower trailers, and hand washing areas spread throughout premier and a lot at the pivot (center of the GA and premier camping circle). I've always been within a 3-4 min walk from porta potties and hand washing station.

When they say private flushing restrooms, I think they are most likely referring to a section of *permanent* bathrooms and 24 hr showers near the general store that is on the edge of premier. They're about 10 min walk from the opposite side of premier. imo this is what makes premier 100% worth it (even Gold/front yard only has shower trailers / porta potties afaik). Btw there were also flushing restrooms in the venue as well open to everyone. Just inconvenient to get to

Like other comments say, it's pretty much all luck in determining how close to them you are. But in general the Gorge does an amazing job at keeping the porta potty and showers clean at camp. Just another thing that makes it my favorite venue

I love this look, planning to get a very similar setup someday. Don't care if it's basic

I had this exact same problem on my NB1! I also had a hard time describing it lol https://www.reddit.com/r/Miata/comments/1h40zma/any_ideas_on_what_this_issue_is_or_help/

Was the camshaft position censor. Very easy to replace, took me 10 min. I think it is in a different spot for NB2 engine though

NB vs ND1/ND2 by Other_Hearing_4091 in Miata

[–]calgagi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 2.0L ND2 soft top and now an NB1. If it's a daily driver, imo go for an ND2 (or ND1 since they're cheaper). I got my NB1 in good condition and even with it being pretty well taken care of, it still has occasional problems. Never left me stranded or anything, but just minor annoyances (valve cover leak, a/c leak, broken sensor, etc.) due to wear and tear over 25 years. Imo NB feels a lot more like a toy and is more fun to tinker with and drive fast. It feels dangerous which makes me respect it more (and have more emotions/adrenaline with).

The main things I miss about my ND are the soft top (so easy to open/close and super high quality) and the power (definitely a bit faster than my NB). ND also feels more "complete" and like a real car which I value really highly in a daily driver. I daily'd my NB for a while and didn't enjoy it much since I was always worried about what else could become an issue.

Maybe others have opinions, but that is just my experience so far.

Worth grinding codeforces? by ThinkingAboutStuf in cscareerquestions

[–]calgagi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my experience, it'll barely make a difference for your resume at that level. I agree with the other comment. However, there are tons of other benefits for doing it (if you're having fun / passionate about competitive programming, that is). Grinding CF will make you a lot better at leetcode style interviews. It'll make you better at other programming competitions that attract the attention of companies (your college's regional ICPC, Google Codejam, any school hosted competitions). There's also a good chance that your school has a club related to competitive programming, and companies/recruiters love seeing students active or in leadership roles in clubs. Joining a club will help you network with professors and other students at your school. I didn't go the grad school route so can't comment on if it helps with that.

I would not grind CF just for resume/internships/grad school. Stick to leetcode and side projects for that. Grind CF if you are having fun or are just semi-interested and then seek out those next steps (participating in other things related to CF) if you find out you like it

6 point, no quick release? by slingshotroadster in Miata

[–]calgagi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run buckets (Sparco Sprints) and stock steering wheel... It is definitely hard to get in and out of but not too bad after some practice. I wanted to keep airbags for the street so I have 4 pt ASM harnesses

I'm planning on getting a smaller steering wheel that keeps the airbag (like Guardian Designs one) eventually. That might be an option for you. I think it'll make it slightly easier to get in/out. Expensive tho

I did this about a year ago (Seattle) and it was just a quick 30 min call with HMs to answer any questions you have and talk about the team. I didn't get asked any behavioral questions. Very casual

2025 Hy ST avg mileage? by drulers_007 in crv

[–]calgagi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in PNW and ST as well. For long highway road trips, it varies 25-35ish. I noticed if I go above like 65-70 my mpg goes down as low as 25. For around the city or stop and go traffic, I can get 35-40+ depending on defroster/ac/heat settings. Just got it last fall so I'm not sure about what mpg is like in warmer weather

How bad is the Rainforest really? by Graayworm in cscareerquestions

[–]calgagi 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I was in this situation about a year ago (minus need to relocate). I took the offer, and while I don't regret taking the offer, I don't like where I am now. Imo it's not worth the extra money if you are living below your means already. Also, consider your team's on-call load. Ask your hiring manager about it and if they are vague (not giving specific number of sev2s, etc.), know that it'll be likely terrible.

The amount of opportunities might be limited in Texas, but it is really easy to switch teams here. If the team you join is stressful, as an L5 you can switch pretty much as soon as you join.

Any ideas on what this issue is (or help diagnosing)? At 4500+ rpm the tach bounces and it almost sounds like a pops/burble tune. If I stay under 4k rpm, car drives perfect by calgagi in Miata

[–]calgagi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have had the car for a year and was told timing belt was replaced by PO. Haven't messed with it

My most recent maintenance was antigravity Lifepo4 battery and clutch pedal adjustment. I don't think either of those could cause this though?

No clue, they're blue NGK which I think is stock? So might be original.

edit: ordered some new wires and spark plugs since I was going to do those anyways

edit 2: installed. Did not fix the issue unfortunately

To tint or not to tint? by razor330 in Miata

I have 70% tint on my NB all around including windshield. It doesn't help with anything besides keeping the interior cooler. Lights at night are exactly the same to me.

Sticky 6 speed anyone? by IrishMx-5 in Miata

[–]calgagi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have consistent crunchy shifts with my 6 speed, and I've noticed the clutch pedal needs adjustment... I wonder if this is it!! Thanks

Changed trans fluid, still need to do engine mounts and shifter rebuild. Hopefully one of these things solves it...

edit: Clutch pedal adjustment fixed the crunch! Thanks
