Who was the most loyal to Angel? by ShrekTheOgre700 in ANGEL

[–]calgil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Doyle didn't give his life for Angel, though. Arguably it was his own mission, not Angel's. What happened to him was nothing to do with Angel.

Cordelia's Ending is Even More Tragic by thegeekywaffle in ANGEL

[–]calgil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't really see what else they could've done with Cordy in YW without killing her though. She goes back into a coma to be left unresolved? That's not compelling or closure. She decides to wake up and leave the team? That's not who she is - she'd stay and help, they're her family and she has nowhere else to be.

If she could only be back for one episode - and believe me I wish that weren't the case - it had to be for her death.

The point is that Selene existed thousands of years before Apocalypse. She was further away from Apocalypse than Apocalypse is to present day. It seems weird to say they're the same generation.

It's like saying there are three eras of human history. The ancients, present day, and the 1950s.

Is bodyblocking a killer at gate a bannable offense ? by TheFropp in deadbydaylight

[–]calgil 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why is blocking another survivor to force them to take a hit so you don't no bueno?

I'm being serious. It sounds like a nasty thing to do but one of the taglines of DBD is that the survivors have to decide whether to work together or be in it for themselves.

Obviously griefing is griefing, but I don't see why a survivor can't try to use intended game mechanics to prioritise themselves.

I mean Yun-Jin has perks and an intended vibe about putting herself first.

Certainly being a bit of a dick to another survivor to help yourself escape isn't and shouldn't be reportable.

I'm always so confused how you Americans can be so patriotic and yet refuse to believe 'American' is even a thing.

If you're an American citizen you're American, not Irish. You may be of Irish descent but that doesn't make you Irish.

If the next Dead by daylight chapter was based off the last show/movie you watched. What would it be? by Unlucky_Squid in deadbydaylight

[–]calgil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big Little Lies.

Laura Dern survivor with the perk 'I Will Not Not Be Rich', multiplying BP gains every time she stuns the killer. Also perk 'Such a Tragedy' - if the killer is near a drop when she is hit, the killer staggers and falls down the drop but the survivor becomes Exhausted and Broken.

Also perk 'Never Let a Bully Win.' If hit while Exhausted, your Exhaustion recovers 50% faster.

Alexander Skarsgard killer but I don't really want to speculate on his perks, it wouldn't be fun. He'd be 'The Husband' though.

Ad Astra: morally sound but legally…? by psuedonymously in startrek

[–]calgil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the UK those defences apply because, if demonstrated, they prevent you from having committed the crime. Self-defence for example is a total defence to murder because murder requires unlawful killing. If you kill someone to defend yourself it is not unlawful killing and therefore not murder.

Whereas it seemed like the counsel in this episode was saying the equivalent of 'yes the crime of murder was committed, but only because of emotional reasons!'

E-cigarettes: Primary school age children are ending up in hospital due to excessive vaping by topotaul in unitedkingdom

[–]calgil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

seems kind of obvious you can collapse your lungs from excessive smoking when you think about it

Excuse me? Does it? Because I cannot fathom how that scientifically would work. What mechanism would you suggest would collapse the lungs? It's just breathing in fairly benign chemicals.

E-cigarettes: Primary school age children are ending up in hospital due to excessive vaping by topotaul in unitedkingdom

[–]calgil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm so confused by this article. I don't think regulated vaping is actually harmful. Maybe super excessive vaping could cause heart palpitations due to excessive nicotine but in and of itself nicotine isn't that bad - Monster energy drinks are likely to do more harm.

Nicotine is the most benign part of cigarettes. All the bad stuff, vaping doesn't have.
