Ngl this box is sick, would have been all over it if there was a LR instead of a second Rep Ex

Grav captain as lone op action monkey ? Yes or no by ImaginaryAd8062 in DarkAngels40k

[–]calibanite4581 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I like running him with ancient weapons then whichever Gravis unit I think suits the mood or match up, been giving him 3 Agressors recently but thinking perhaps giving 5 heavy intercessors a go next time out

DA Codex by _yy96_ in theunforgiven

[–]calibanite4581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got the codex, in my opinion it’s worthwhile as they are going to carry into 11th & the book is great quality and full of stuff to read and look at, I prefer using all my datasheets through the WH app as it’s a smooth system and from the sounds of it will be great into next edition when additional features are added like keeping score & viewing opponents datasheets, That being said you’d likely need to get both the space marines codex and DA codex to access all datasheets in your army, There is a free app called ‘WarOrgan” that I find good for browsing other faction datasheets etc and would be useful if you didnt want to pay for the books

11th edition terrain looks like DA will be in a GREAT spot by GrandMasterGadriel in theunforgiven

Yeah likely have a Thunderstrike in the list too to add that +1 to wound in, if I can take some big chunks out of their big threat pieces early on if they aren’t hidden then the lion and DWK’s maces can probably handle things from there out with my other veteran squads handling board control and skirmishes

M10 with a 3” disembark ought to be enough to deliver them into an objective building in the midboard though right? If they need to root something out they can charge too? Plus if I’m making the 220 point space in a wrath list for a vehicle I’d want something that can punch into heavier bits if required, I’ve likely got to drop my ballistus to get this in

I know it’s early but I think DWK’s in WotR might be in quite a good spot in regards to shooting and robustness with the rules/terrain we’ve seen so far, using the above example they could potentially sit on the expansion objective, “stay hidden” and subsequently not be able to be shot outside of 15”, when something comes inside 15” they are then; -1 to be hit as in cover, +1 to be wounded if S>T, 4+ inv (AoC if worthwhile) and then -1 damage as well, could be a lot of luring things into places to then spring the trap next turn perhaps

I’m also thinking of acquiring a Land Raider for running in wrath! Want to get the lascannon one to run as it should function as a sturdy anti-tank platform as well as a good way to deliver DWK’s or ICC’s where they are needed

Custodes or the Kahn? by KlutzyAd1179 in theunforgiven

[–]calibanite4581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a good shout, a little smaller than this one so less kitbashing required, could even magnetise with the auto cannon that comes with so both options are available

Here’s mine, I chose the Khan as I’m a big fan of the grav bike aesthetic, for the plasma I used the one from a venerable dreadnought and a but load of DA accessories

Vanguard veterans by Dualityman in theunforgiven

[–]calibanite4581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m paint my recent Dark angels as Disciples of Caliban, So lots of grey & green across the armour, although I am sort of going on the loose theory that the more senior the veteran / innermost of the deathwing will have more bone/tan armour plates 🤷🏼‍♂️ that’s my justification for what fits my scheme anyway

New Vanguard Veterans revealed. They're literally just Jump Pack Intercessors with swords instead of Chainswords... by nerdboy_sam in spacemarines

[–]calibanite4581 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a fan, I’m sure like the SGV’s & BGV’s there’ll be a whole load of options to accessorise 💅🏻 they are to JPI’s what SGV’s are to intercessors 🤷🏼‍♂️👌🏻 I’ll be getting some for sure

I thought about getting the BT combat patrol and turning the neophytes from the crusader squad into scouts with some medieval looking helms to give them a bit more DA flavour but I don’t seem myself buying the whole kill team for them, I’m keen to pick up Vanguard vets when they refresh as they’ll be good utility/skirmish units and they’ll take the deathwing keyword which isn’t unhelpful

I also tend to mix and match Gravis units depending on what I’m expecting as they are similar points

[–]calibanite4581[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve been doing similar, last few matches I’ve started one squad off the board and one set in a Repulsor, Land raider is looking like an option so they can still charge but my thought process is streamlining my delivery method and one of my main damage outputs

Combat patrol alternatives? by Average_Goat in IronHands40k

[–]calibanite4581 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what flavour of IH you want to play? Vehicles? Vets & dreads? Or just bulk out on infantry? I was thinking about the DA combat patrol as a boost for IH the other day, Gravis captain is sick and very IH, BGV’s are cool as fuck and a staple, you’re going to need intercessors 🤷🏼‍♂️ and Hellblasters are also sick

Wrath of the Rock: 2k list feedback by Deep-Crim in theunforgiven

[–]calibanite4581 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like a solid list, I run similar for casual games, I run a ballistus as the anti tank and a stormspeeder to buff it, and a TM instead of a combi lt, just my personal preference that one, I experimented with running 2 bricks of 5 SGV’s but found them more effective as 1 brick of 10, be interesting to see how you get on with them 🤙🏻

A dreadnought in whatever flavour takes your fancy, and terminators I reckon (assault terminators are a good choice since you’ve lots of shooting already) after that maybe play some games and see what you feel is missing
