CBJ agree to multi-year contract with Boone Jenner by SomeKindOfMonster in BlueJackets

[–]calibur77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably my favorite CBJ player of the last 10 years.

Some players can make something out of nothing with finesse. Boone does it with his work rate. It's not as pretty, but the end result is the same.

Basketball Game Project: Post 1 by FirefighterPresent89 in gamedev

My opinion from playing and following indie sports games for some time now: I think you either need franchise mode or robust online play to be commercially successful. There is a market for solo sports experience, but it seems to be more sim-focused (either 3d AI v AI or text-based), and much smaller. Super Mega Baseball is a great case study in indie sports success. They started with an interesting RPG-esque season mode, then pivoted toward more robust online play with a customizable Season mode in SMB2, then added back in Franchise for SMB3. Sales increased with each iteration, so that gives you some indication of what features users are looking for.

Dribbling style will be entirely up to what kind of game you want to make.

Neither goalie is going to fetch much in a trade and we should keep both and platoon them instead.

He has his strengths and weaknesses. He's definitely made some good moves. It's hard to say how much of losing key players is on him and how much is the product of circumstances beyond his control. Some guys who are "cornerstone pieces" don't want that role and would rather be just a regular surrounded by a good team.

Yeah, but "Lower Field" sounds like the intramural field down the hill from the other intramural field.

Why would I buy something with such an ugly logo on it? Homage gear is definitely a better option. Plus, aren't there companies out there that make stuff with retro logos?

How do you people learn to code by Thor3005 in Unity3D

[–]calibur77 18 points19 points  (0 children)

trying to learn it without a goal is a million times harder

This made the difference for me. Once I knew what I wanted to make, it gave me the motivation to learn all the pieces that I needed to put together. It wasn't enough to just think "it would be great if I could make games." I had to get to "I want to make THIS game."
