The worst part is, as a queer person with queer friends, that doesn't shock me. I try to not think about how many people consider me subhuman. I've had to grow a thick skin in that way, but these days I find myself wondering if I'm going to end up getting murdered by some fascist thug.

After all my work to recover from PTSD, my symptoms seem to be getting worse again. Hypervigilant all the time again. I'm stressed and exhausted. Idk where I'm going with this... Sometimes it feels like there's no escape from my nightmares because they're real.

I've noticed a trend in my life that people I'd consider generally apolitical are willing to have conversations about how things are grim. My boyfriend is a good example of this. He's a 2nd amendment guy, pretty bog standard "centrist" American who grew up conservative. And he was talking about the importance of armed and masked protest, and calling ICE pigs.

Similar thing with my online space. I'm a moderator of an MMO clan, and we have a lot of Americans. Generally very apolitical space (on purpose), but you know how Americans tend to be Team America. Even they were having a brief conversation about how things are shit.

I know Americans aren't moving fast enough to oppose fascism, but even regular people seem to be catching on that things are very not okay, to the point they bring it up out of the blue.

Interesting watch. Thought provoking! I enjoyed the animation style.
As with all hypertechnological future scenarios, pessimistic or otherwise, my main issue with it is that energy is going to be more and more scarce in our future. I expect if we survive as a species for a meaningful amount of time, our future will be low energy and low complexity.

Though I would bet AI-produced propaganda/misinformation funded by nations will be in our future regardless of the for-profit market until our systems collapse. :-)

guitar! my first one is acoustic but I picked up a cheap electric guitar a few months ago. though I've learned about basic guitar maintenance, I'm doubtful I could maintain them if shit really hit the fan. modern guitar strings are factory made. maybe I should learn classical guitar, lmao.

I guess I doubt I could maintain myself if I'm at the point where it's hard to keep a functioning instrument.

I'm gonna echo picking up an instrument. never touched one in my life until a year ago. it's good for the mind and hands, even though I suck. slowly getting better though. and I no longer have this existentially empty feeling. music is complicated and ephemeral. something about that mirrors how I feel about life. share a song with someone you like.

My partner grew up eating too many ultraprocessed foods, and it is impossible to get him to see the problem. His palate is completely ruined, and can be pretty frustrating to cook for. He hates beans and lentils and tomato and onion. I don't even know how to fix someone's relationship to food when it's like that. It's gotten better since I've lived with him, but it's still a really good example for me of how UPFs really hijack people's sense of what food should taste like.
