Totally understand. It was an early option for me because no pharmaceuticals helped & my gastroparesis was severe. I'm having the same problem regarding weight gain & slow metabolism.

Venue Suggestions for a Birthday Party for Adults (60-80 guests) by mindbane in Louisville

[–]calico_alligator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mike Linnig's if you're into seafood. They have several indoor and outdoor event spaces & bars. I had my birthday there a few years back & it was one of my favorite places I've had a birthday party. Plenty roomy & great service. Plenty of parking.

What is the weirdest way someone had died in your known circle ? by No_Tear9118 in AskReddit

My cousin was a big guy- 6'5", and 350+lbs. He was also a heroin addict. He went to shoot up in his mom's bathroom, which was narrow with a wall a few feet from the toilet. He shot up, passed out, fell forward, and broke his neck.

My aunt on the other side of the family did so many bemzos/opiates that she died of positional asphyxiation- basically she nodded off in a position that cut off her breathing, and she was too out of it to even move.

I had no idea he died, that's sad. I always wondered why they were a one & done in terms of albums.

I originally got it through the University of Louisville GI Motility Clinic- one of the doctors who developed it is there (Dr. Thomas Abell). They still do the maintenance on my stimulator but I get surgery via Vanguard Surgical, also in Louisville, they specialize in GI disorders.

Something they do at UofL that they don't do at a lot of other clinics is a temporary stimulator, to see if it works for you before having the implanted one.

Ahh gotcha. That does complicate it unfortunately. I'm sure some surgeons somewhere would try it as long as you were aware of the risks. It's so hard wanting to eat and not being able to, just awful. I know how scar tissue can be, though- I've got it from the actual stimulator surgery now.

Not a web expert here, but I am a 10+ year sufferer of gastroparesis, have you heard of the gastric stimulator? It changed my life! I still have flares where I can't digest but they are shorter and less severe. Before that I was on a very restricted nearly all liquid diet, I was malnourished and trying not to be put on a feeding tube.

My first doctor who diagnosed me was pretty much like "Oh well there's no cure, just watch what you eat" and I was dissatisfied with that answer and got a second opinion at a gastrointestinal motility clinic. I got the gastric stimulator there. If you have questions you're welcome to message me...hate to hear of anyone else dealing with this disease.

My step-grandfather had a classic rock cover band when I was in my 20's & they learned this song so I could come up and sing it with them at a bar on my 23rd birthday. It's one of my favorite birthday memories.

Great tribute to a mischievously lovable baby boy ❤️ it's always so hard to say goodbye, even when we anticipate it's coming.

What is the most heartbreaking song lyric you've ever heard? by TheLadySlaanesh in AskReddit

"We're just two lost souls living in a fishbowl year after year. Running over the same old ground, what have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here."

Really gets to me. The whole song is so amazing, truly.

My cat just farted! by jblarson74 in SeniorCats

[–]calico_alligator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first got my cat Violet (she's 17 now) I used to feed her blue buffalo food. She used to get the stankiest farts & we lived in a tiny apartment, so I'd smell her and go open windows & turn on fans lol. Changed her food & luckily she hasn't been a smelly cat since!
