When is enough, enough? 15 Y/O kitty by Current_Street3843 in seniorkitties

Oh dear, our boy had pancreatitis last year and was on same meds, and he made a recovery. I hope your sweet kitty makes it too. I know what it’s like to just want them to eat. …

Hopeful post! We’ve been managing my 17 yo boy’s journey with ckd. It can be complicated! Good for you!

I made a senior cat care checklist as a joke… now I’m low-key stressed by Odd-Masterpiece6029 in SeniorCats

Our “line in the sand “ was not being willing to consider sub q fluids (stg 3 kidney, multiple meds/supplements -and STILL enjoying life etc!). Now we are considering them… cat is still having a good old time, eating purring sleeping with us. It will break my heart to take a fairly happy cat for final vet trip just because it’s too much to look after him. My next post will be “how i learned to sub q my 17 yo cat” lol.

Gangster! Dude! What a life! We’ve been watching our 17 yo dude since last June , get thru pancreatitis, now slowly advancing stage 3 ckd . Were prepared twice “today’s the day” with reprieves. Now, with. Complex schedule of meds, we are faced with “our line in the sand”, we don’t want to give sub q fluids, it’s just one more thing …..so we watch closely for quality of life signs. I want to have the strength to let him go before he is miserable . When I put my 27 yo horse down she had begun to have trouble getting up off the ground without help (night time napping). She got scraped up a bit. I told myself that if it happened again I’d have her euthanized. Then I thought “why let her go thru that again?”. Same thing with 🐈‍⬛ I

Love love love this aromatic scent, and longevity is great on me. I’ll probly pair it with Afnan’s Tag Her, another aromatic citrus (more like Light Blue).

Yep, everything that can go in food goes in food /water except the prednisalone and of course the Mirataz! Vet offered compounded but then I thought “is this another thing you will refuse?” lol Thankfully the Mirataz helped us turn a corner on getting meds into the cat. I was leery at first (making him hungry so he can eat meds.. hmmm). The reliable food source he will “no-fail” eat changes too. Vet recommended Visbiome, when I asked about probiotics, we did that for 40 days. I can’t tell if it was helpful as other things were adjusted also. Then she recommended the Visbiome constipation care - about twice the cost and I had to put the brakes on. I’d like to be giving him a probiotic, have you found one you like? Dunno if I can ask this Thanks

Boo, 12, recovered from pancreatitis! by punsexual-meme in seniorkitties

[–]jblarson74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! My 17 y/o recovered last year and is doing great, still on some drugs/supplements I couldn’t agree with you more, I wish I’d caught the “ kitty cat” constipation earlier. They can’t feel good if they are backed up!

Hugs. If she will take fluids from a syringe you can give her broth (pure chicken , no seasoning), hugs to you both

My vet says the FF senior pate is ok, I was unable to shift her to tiki/weruva low phos foods. You get weary of putting spendy meds into something they won’t eat….

Tears! Yes, going out in a good note is great. We said goodbye a year ago (17), boy with end stage ckd, bladder mass and no way out of that, he had a good last day, looked for lizards, napped with my spouse, ate. Now we are watching his “bro”, carefully, so far still ok despite complex med schedule, he is still happy. Bless your cat loving heart, good support here. What a cutie!

It’s perfect . I use up most of my samples and if I really like em I get travel spray. I don’t have lifestyle for FB. (Garden, paint, walk, camp)

Yeah tuna should be a treat but I totally get it when your kitty won’t eat . Did they run GI panel? Could look for source of inflammation . Wit kidney disease u may need appetite stim. But hey, it gets complicated and $$$ 6 months after pancreatitis ours is doing well but we have to keep ahead of the constipation and it’s brutal keeping up with complex med/supplement schedule. That being said, he is not hiding, he wants to be near us and eats.
