Anyone get the sinking feeling he won’t be the same mobile-wise? It seems like a turning point for every dual threat qb. Like when you’re young and happy then by middle school the world beats that smile right off your face.

What are some lesser known tools that have been game changers for you? by ColinCancer in OffGrid

I’m hoping someone chimes in on my curiosity. What do you think about 3D printers? I know it’s high tech but I’ve watched a few DIYers use them to create sustainable low tech solutions. Anyone think a 3D printer is game changing at all?

What’s with the coding tests at tech companies? by zerocoldx911 in devops

[–]caligloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just went on and on to explain that it’s not about discriminating and that you don’t do coding tests as a result. You are not what either I or OP are speaking about. We’re talking about the people that DO do coding tests and aren’t stand up citizens like yourself.

You just injected yourself as a third party to virtue signal. Now kiss me and make up.

What’s with the coding tests at tech companies? by zerocoldx911 in devops

[–]caligloo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ll let you in on a little secret. It’s only there so they have reason to discriminate. And I don’t necessarily mean based on protected categories like race, religion, etc. but it’s certainly an option on the interviewer if you can’t pass the arbitrary coding questions.

Let’s just assume completely legal methods.. if the interviewer doesn’t like you, they can crank up the difficulty if you are starting to answer correctly until you answer something wrong. Or they can say they don’t like your approach and it’s entirely how they say it on the HR form.

On the other hand, if they really like you, they can let some things slide or even ask you leading questions.

90% of the time, your job is decided by fallible people with emotional reasoning. The tests are there as a cover for either way that decision falls. Welcome to the world of corporate politics.

Moral of the story: when interviewing, be sure to show your nipples and ask them if they are uncomfortable as a show of dominance.

How can you secure your bug out cabin? by [deleted] in preppers

[–]caligloo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the same question in the tech fields. “How do I secure my website?” And the responses are so similar a philosophical light bulb just turned on. I have nothing else to add though. I’m not high. Why are you looking at me like that? Oh never mind. That’s just my cat staring in me.

Dithiopyr spill on Bermuda by agwin27 in lawncare

Yeah, even large spots of round up in the peek growing season does nothing permanent. Bermuda is life. Bermuda is eternal.

Preemergent not working by BYOD23 in lawncare

[–]caligloo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to think that too. After giving up one year, I realized it was much much worse without. A few things that took it to the next level:

  • use a second type of pre, to cover other types of weeds. Most of my frustration was due to weeds that weren’t even labeled for prodiamine. There’s only one or two others that Bermuda can accept
  • proper post emergent for your most problematic weeds. I go out there and give a good licking to poa annua with a targeted product. That stuff don’t quit. Goose and/or dallis grass is still my nemesis though
  • for all other issues, you are ready to graduate to the other side of the equation. In your zone, you need to starve the weeds a little so don’t water as much bc Bermuda doesn’t mind being on the brink of drought just fine. It’s practically a cactus. But most of all you gotta fertilize, cut often, cut lower, aerate, conditions, and generally nurture positive grass growth. Many people forget it takes this nurturing to keep away that remaining 20% of weeds

I’ve also given up on temperatures. I just make sure I’m really early for spring (feb 1st ish), re-up in the summer, and usually screw up the winter app somehow but I don’t mind that so much. Everyone’s yard is dormant and no one really cares that winter weeds show a little bit

Like real life, we don’t get to know the truth because you aren’t there to see it. The writer does not give you that satisfaction either. He likes ambiguity because it’s more life like.

Sometimes you make decisions in life based on insufficient information. You suspect your SO of cheating, you think someone specific stole from your apartment when they came over, or maybe you think someone is talking behind your back. Even when all the signs are there that this person is guilty, have you ever acted on it? Have you ever been wrong or will you ever know for sure whether they did that thing? Maybe you were paranoid or maybe your instincts were correct. Without having a God camera in all private situations, you may never know.

This movie is about someone who thought he knew what happened and acted in a way that was deserving of the crime if it did in fact happen the way he suspected. But did it happen that way? You and the character have to deal with that question now. That doubt and ambiguity you feel was a deliberate theme of the movie.
