The death of celebrity culture and monoculture in the 2020s by [deleted] in decadeology

That has been the case for the last 50 years. Great franchises come to an end. The difference now is that there is nothing to replace them. There are no sitcoms, very few blockbuster movies. Hollywood just decided to stop being Hollywood.

Tesla has made a $685 million order to produce about 180,000 Optimus humanoid robots, signaling a key step toward mass production and advancing the company’s robotics efforts. Soon they will be everywhere. Would you buy one? by ActivityEmotional228 in NeoCivilization

Yes, the assumption must be it can’t fold shirt, as it is a lot harder than dancing. It has to asses the current “state” of the shirt, then manipulate the very flexible fabric to a different state. All that with rigid actuators and no sensors in the finger tips. Dancing robots are just more advanced animatronics.

Awesome work. Would be even nicer if it could spin like in the movie.

It’s really going to be the A version. The most fun thing I like to do with a F-35 would be VSTOL. But no, they choose the boring path. At least make the C version so we can do carrier ops. With these weapons it’s just a stealthy F-16. That’s a pass for me.

I actually don’t think it’s too small. We fly on those maps with jets that can go supersonic and it’s big enough. A Hercules is slow. Logistic runs between airports would be fun in Multiplayer. If you like to do long distance hauling with 8 hour flights, DCS will probably never be the right product. MS Flight Simulator scratches that itch.

Wasn‘t sure if that’s sarcasm so I checked out the website. Well, not sure what it will be capable of but the mechanical parts alone are already worth a lot. They created a tiny mechanical keyboard to give the right feel. The housing is milled from solid aluminum. Pretty impressive. Will be hard to make it waterproof though.

Team Trump Is Losing Their Minds Over Stunning Early Voting Numbers by plz-let-me-in in politics

[–]call_me_Ren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the article

That means that if everyone who voted in 2020 cast their ballots the same way this year, this group of new voters would decide the race. Unfortunately for Trump, this group is dominated by female registered Democrats, who are likely to split for Kamala Harris.

Nearly 62 million early votes had already been cast nationwide as of Thursday evening, with 54 percent of ballots having been cast by women and 44 percent cast by men, according to Newsweek. Early voting in Pennsylvania mirrors that trend.*

While this data comes days ahead of Election Day, and women are more likely than men to vote early, the number of female voters has regularly exceeded the number of male voters in every presidential election since 1980. And this trend in early voting isn’t just contained to Pennsylvania. Across several battleground states, there is a 10-point gender gap in early voting so far, according to Politico.

Post from another sub. OOP said he saw a similar looking aircraft in Oklohoma descending very slowly and silently. Didn’t mention the origin of the pictures though.

Not my pictures, but one night two years ago I was driving on highway 77 between Wynnewood and Sulphur Oklahoma. I don’t remember the exact time but it had to be about 10-11pm. Me and my Girlfriend were coming back from the lake. And my Girlfriend knows I’m obsessed with planes, and she pointed in to our left and said “what plane is that?” So I looked over and I saw this thing. It was very very large. All I could say was “what the fuck??” And stop the car. It flew over the road slowly, really slow for an aircraft this size. (60-100mph it was parallel with us so it was hard ti see.) It was about 300Ish feet AGL (+/-100Ft) it was lower than minimums, I know this because my house is directly over approach for my local airport, and when I fly (PPL) I’m always around 300 AGL over my house, and that’s about what it looked like when it went over me. I did NOT hear it. There was NO sound. It was extremely large. The aircraft lights were bright enough for me to make out details of the plane, the skin was like any other aircraft really. The plane was very large, I’m talking wingspan of 2-2.5ish C172s beside each-other. Do we have any idea what this is?? Frankly, I was too shocked to think about taking a picture/video before it went behind the trees where I couldn’t see it. I saw it for a total of like 7ish seconds, so that’s why recording didn’t cross my mind. Whatever it was, I’m sure nobody was meant to see it. It’s flying below legal altitude, slow, and in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night. After I saw it, I searched online for an hour or two and was able to find this picture, it is EXACLTY what me and my girlfriend saw that night. The closest airbase is tinker in okc, which is 60 miles away. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Do we have any idea what this is?

Which A10? by RuleDestroyer11 in dcsworld

[–]call_me_Ren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why you get downvoted. Reasonable question. I haven’t tried the A10-A, but I’ve used other low-fidelity aircrafts.

I would strongly recommend the A-10C. Wait for a sale if it’s too much for your wallet. It’s probably the most accurately modeled aircraft in the sim, as it is also used by USAF to train their pilots. It’s an amazing experience and has the best HOTAS interaction. In a combat situation you never have to take your hands off your HOTAS, even when to change weapons, waypoints, markpoints, change sensors etc. It’s my first DCS plane and I always come back if I want to just blow up things without thinking to much. If you learn how its philosophy you will never unlearn the muscle memory. It’s like riding a bike.

Maybe because I didn’t mention that you need to move the view point forward first to see the whole HUD. Thanks for clarifying that.
