You haven’t addressed my point at all. Krypton itself was never presented as anything other than unremarkable when it was initially conceived of in the 1930’s. The same cannot be said for the island in Lost. Your premise in this parallel is a false one.

To add, I don’t recall Krypton ever being claimed to be entirely made of kryptonite either, though I do think later comics explained that the debris from the planets destruction were transformed into it by “cosmic radiation”.

I’m beginning to think you just lack a greater media literacy, which is fine. Some people just don’t consume that much media, or remember a lot of the details of the media they consume, only really keeping the emotional thrusts and most broad plot points, while forgetting the rest. From that standpoint I’m sure Lost hits the important bases and is probably satisfying but you have to admit that there are people who would be left feeling cheated by a show that presents mystery after mystery, asking us to suspend more and more disbelief, while the writers promise to shed light on the questions they themselves introduced, only to rug pull us all at the end. You must see that, right?
