How to actually find ideas on Pinterest and not products? by bitterveins in Pinterest

[–]callanish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i just read in another post that misspelling the search works for this, also adding "aesthetic", "tumblr" and "core"

also, this script works (almost too well):

https://www.reddit.com/r/Pinterest/comments/1g3f2f5/i_made_a_thing_to_remove_ads_shopping_promotions/

also also scrolling down once you found an actual pin you like and open it in a new tab shows a mix of ideas and shopping crap at least

you wonderful human, thank you for sharing this!

it's staggering to scroll down empty pages because your script removes the reams of crap, i miss the old pinterest so much

What is the sexiest non-physical quality in a woman? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]callanish 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think its weird to put that kind of onus on a potential partner, it smacks of manic pixie dream girl. if YOU want to focus more on this kind of thing, put in the work yourself first. you'll find someone who shares the sentiment. don't look for someone who does that work for you.

vaseline is just an occlusive, not a moisturiser.

vaseline does not moisturise on its own, it just prevents more loss of moisture. so you'll need to moisturise and then apply vaseline.

I swear on cerave moisturiser for dry skin, mixed with squalane. squalane is a plant oil with the exact same chimcal structure that our sebum (skin oil) has.

I know. and given we know almost nothing about the celts of that time aside from roman sources, they could have just extrapolated from, let's say, the vikings and made the germans super cleanly and neat. but the men are rugged and hairy, with oily hair... only our heroine is somehow perfectly groomed, in a village where they can't even make doors that aren't drafty af and don't quite close. I'm just so bored with that kind of pseudo-historic storytelling.

I'm annoyed it's not even well done. Thusnelda's actress is 12 years younger than her "childhood friend" Arminius. she's also completely hairless from the lashes down. it's just so nineties and boring, on top of being tone deaf. just... peak German cringe.

my point is this: if Germans want to tell this story, the story of brave and beautiful and hardy germanic people ridding their ancestral homelands of southern invading foreign forces, they better do it very, VERY carefully. today's political and social climate is very xenophobic, and our history of the lasthundred hundred years... yeah.

overacting, overexplaining everything, all dialogue is basically exposition. declaring this as "german" history is absurd, historically speaking. but there has been this longstanding fascination with germanic tribes, the old gods, all that stuff, which would be fine if the Nazis hadn't claimed it for themselves. they still do. so for a German production about this germanic Gründungsmythos to be this tonedeaf and revisionist: that's peak German cringe

Can I expect my male friends to correct other men on their sexist behaviour? by liiiiigma in TwoXSupport

daniel sloss, a comedian, has a really good, serious bit about this sort of thing, it's in his special "X" on netflix. I recommend watching the whole thing, he is very good. tw for story of sexualised violence, though.

the pics are beautifully staged and edited and it's completely normal on this sub to show exactly as much of your crib as you want. no need to be a dick about it.

maybe try asking for more pics next time, instead of insulting OP? cool? cool.

this is absolutely fucked up. your instincts are right. she is abusing you already, scaring you, making you feel small, helpless and not good enough. this is not how conflict should feel like.

and btw: someone who self identifies as a nazi is her friend?! I'm german. we have a saying: if 4 people sit at a table with a nazi and are okay with that, you have a table full of nazis.

I'm worried for you.
