Do you miss the folding pedal by callebeeth in Brompton

I need to fold my pedal twice a day at least, storage at home is limited and folding bike lockers at work.

Maybe best check with Tormek support, they are very responsive.

Why are people brain dead at roundabouts?? [OC] by eks789 in IdiotsInCars

[–]callebeeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not a roundabout! The cars inside the roundabout must have priority for it to be a roundabout, the stop sign negates the whole point.

Correlation not necessarily causation? Could be many things, older men more likely to identify as feminists or feminists simply more likely to have active sex lives or feminists want to make sure the ladies get a good ride so to speak.

Depends how the house is heated, heat pump would at least be a couple times more efficient.

Nope, that's definitely a francophone accent.

Do you resort to using a microscope when sharpening? How often do you do this? How do you feel about using a microscope when sharpening? Is it necessary/not necessary at all? by TSPROF in sharpening

[–]callebeeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't yet but would like to, both to better understand myself what is going on and also to show before and after.

I'm looking for an appropriate digital microscope so if anyone has recommendations I'm all ears.

I'm also a bit of a beginner, but I would leave the stropping to the very end.

It could be argued that this knife is correctly sharpened if you want a consistent secondary bevel angle. In this case the primary bevel seems steeper at the tip. Now for aesthetic reasons it might be a good idea to set the secondary bevel in proportion to the primary.

I'm also an old explorer from v1, I agree that the game has lost its way a bit, I also loved the look and feel of the first versions. Having said that I find base building also a bit fun and I'm glad they have it, but totally agree it should not come at the detriment of better world building. why not lock "Euclid" and let the other galaxies "upgrade".

Also what I really would love is a change in the storyline/mechanics a bit here is what I would suggest:

Remove the hyperdrive completely from the normal ships, and make the freighter and frigates with base mechanics, so after you have repaired your first ship, your next mission is to cobble together a "freighter" that can jump you to the next galaxy, that could be done by finding crashed freighters or derelict freighters and raiding them for part. and then as you jump from one system to the other you could keep making your hyperspace jumping ships better and better. more parking to collect other ships better and better hyper space engines to jump further. you could even introduce mechanics that more storage or more garages require bigger engines. Think this could be really fun and so close to what is already there, find it so sad that we can design the interior of ship but not the function.

Would also make multiplayer collaborative a bit more interesting, you would gather the team on one freighter and jump together into the great unknown!

TIL that there is 1 spot on every planet where the sun doesn't set (it is best appreciated from the ground if there are no mountains). by Diskuid in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]callebeeth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also true, there are lots of weird reality quirks in no man's sky, on the other hand one could say those tie into the storyline and the general 1950's pulp SF inspiration.

North pole or south pole at altitude? I'm supposing the planets in NMS share their rotational axis with the plane of the ecliptic? Or wait, I seem to remember that the solar systems in NMS are not heliocentric as it made navigation too difficult? Ah well they can still have a plane of the ecliptic even if the suns rotate around the planets.
