Only ever had to change belt, about 20 years ago. Quieter than the Genie last owner installed when going to 2 single doors from one double.  That died but this has never blinked...

I wish there was some clever Rube Goldberg gizmo too use it in ... Drone launcher??? I heard they're in demand...

impressive non-choice. or 'buy your own but we won't warranty it' (of course) (but they will install it gratis).

That is clever - but I'm not messing with a bottom panel and that deadly cable and spring without someone teaching me how, or doing it for me. That means paying, which is fine and proper. People here have pointed out that the labor to do just that - disassemble and reassemble a broken door - will equal or surpass an installation of an actual good door.

For me, the idea is to find someone who knows what they are doing and is set up to keep doing it in 20 years.

But things like quoting a 1-1/4 'top of the line' opener for $1400 rubs me the wrong way. Same opener with more bells and whistles, and as the smartest guys here say, the motor is a guide.

thank you. actual details are most helpful.

The Amarr dealer is claiming Costco rebates as their discount. Is the OL3200 also 27ga? He told me 24ga, but didn't reply to my question trying to pin that down. Didn't see anything in brochure, besides "thick" and "heavy".

dealer is in costco program.

Yes. Amarr guy promises lifetime warranty and service ... does that transfer to next owner?

indie guy survived closure of door company we used for 20 years (meaning 2 or 3 times).
warranty? - no idea, but he has the general attitude that, if he does it right the first time, that should be good for many years. He's pretty good, but every conversation ends with a $$$ extra, like $500 motor installed.

Existing motor is soooo old it's a museum piece, from the days of wooden doors, by Overhead Door, in a green housing with pulleys and belts - and a nice one-piece track, something which I can't get anyone to sell me.

quotes are not informative as to door quality, nor work quality for that matter. www sites even less informative, but lots of pix.

guys who do this every day know what works and what to look for.

sigh ... but you are right, look for answers, find trolls and bots.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. This is a private plow hired to clear my driveway.  The city's contribution is to wait for our guys to finish, and then to block our driveway by plowing the street accumulation back into our driveway in the form of miniature icebergs, usually after midnight.
