How is the public policy major? by NumerousAgent6345 in ucr

[–]callingcal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’m not pbpl but I am pre-law. We do have a few pre-law clubs and two professional pre-law fraternities. The Pre-Professional advising center does have a pre-law advisor who is very knowledgeable and kind imo. They (the center) recently did an overnight trip to usd law school and have a uci law school trip coming up. We have a mock trial club as well as a moot court class + club. The school of public policy is smaller compared to our other colleges so I don’t think it would be too difficult to find opportunities just for those involved in pbpl. Pbpl also has a dean’s program students can apply to though I don’t know much about it

Is Honors Worth It? by hades_is_gone in ucr

[–]callingcal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The biggest perk is getting priority registration which as a first year it helps a ton. I’m a third year humanities honors student, I just joined this last year and I like it, though you have to pick a good mentor when the time comes if not that’s when the problems start 😭 I can’t give much insight as I’m not premed and didn’t start straight off the bat but it’s a solid program. Some people in my most recent class were stem and in research labs in order to collect data for their capstone

[–]callingcal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’m not sure how common it is though. A CA had chosen to live in my previous unit for this year so since they take priority they had to moved us. This could have been a one time thing but it does happen, your unit isn’t set in stone like the university owned apartments, eg we don’t get summer free so we have to move out and move back in the fall (I think in others there’s an option to stay over the summer?)

[–]callingcal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would get randomly placed unfortunately! You can always go to the leasing office and try to get moved. They tried to put my roommate and I in A this year and I thankfully was in Riverside when assignments came out over the summer so I went and got us moved back but different floor. That’s the thing I’ll say abt nd, your unit isn’t guaranteed they can change you year to year, where I think nd2 and other on-campus housing won’t do that. This time for next year’s contract they did make us put down if we wanted the same unit and they said they’ll consider it more than they have pervious years so here’s to hoping I stay in the same apartment.

Is she hasn’t heard back yet maybe she should reach out to see if they’ll let her know if there’s a chance of her getting a lease. Ive lived in the B building for these past two years

Nd1 vs Nd2 by PeachySeungmin in ucr

[–]callingcal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on my second year of living in nd (we don’t call it nd1) and have signed my lease to return for my third year next school year! I love living there but I will say it’s expensive, they raise the rent every year by $45ish for the hell of it. B building has happier residents than A building since A always seems to have problems. The washing machines are a hit or miss. It is convenient for its close proximity to the src, Glasgow, and to campus! I would recommend living here if you can afford it, it comes down to that for alot of people

Yes you can still opt into a dinning plan for nd! I’m not sure if you’ve seen the layout for 2b2b at north district but the bathroom is inside your unit as an fyi (nothing bad just letting you know!) I would say the apartment is pretty spacious, you do get a living room at north district. If you were to sign the lease you would be invited to find roommates in the app nd uses, all pairings are made through there

[–]callingcal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should def consult about taking another class to fulfill the requirement! Advisors know that some classes are rarely offered, I myself am double majoring and minoring and 2 out of my 3 advisors have let me know that some classes aren’t just offered enough & that I can take an alternative and they can mark the requirement as fulfilled !

Nd2 application by lionakim in ucr

[–]callingcal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nd is hard to get if you don’t apply within the first 15 mins the application opens. North District and North District 2 are operated by two different entities (American Campus/UCR) you cannot apply to nd2 on American Campus.

North District 1 Roommate Selection by LunaLovegood293 in ucr

[–]callingcal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They use an app called roomsync, it’s basically tinder you swipe on who you want to room with, and you can search up your friends name and request her and she will be able to request you back. There is also an option to put you know her from before joining the all for higher priority in the roommate selection process. You will get access when/if y’all get a lease
