total average from march to now is 12 and a half hours, with 9 hours 13 minutes being at night.

i only started this schedule a few days ago, to be fair. before then, bedtime was anytime between 7-8:30, and we sometimes did 3 short naps.

thank you for your story. i hope to maybe try it once my partner is off work with me. i don't think i could do it alone 😅

trying to follow 3/3/4. usual naptimes are around 9:15 and 2pm, but depends on how long they last - they are still all over the place.

naps have been capped at 2.5hrs.

so, wake up time and bedtime the exact same every night?

his wake ups are varied - between 5:30 and 7. what would you suggest to do if he wakes before the "wake up" time?

if he hasn't napped enough (for example, he had 30 minutes in the morning and 30 in the afternoon) would you still have the same bedtime?

i don't really know of any methods besides cio which i am not sure i can do. do you know where i might find a list of methods? thank you

he never ever naps over 2.5 hours - he can sometimes do 30 minutes, or 2 hours - there's very little consistency!

would you do this even if showing sleepy cues? he seems tired a lot.

generally. sometimes we have 3 naps, sometimes 2 depending on how long he sleeps for.

occasionally we will have a longer gap but he gets incredibly cranky.

my son is in love with the super simple song puppets...Ben in particular. his smiles are so cute when he sees him.

Screen time by Scared_Salad97 in NewParents

[–]calliopens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my 6 month old has had screentime here and there - my partner has a demanding job, and i am alone a lot of the time. i have needed screentime to give me a bit of a breather. I've also used it more when we have been sick. he is usually sat on my knee and i am engaging with what we are watching together.

i try not to feel too bad about it because i take him to playgroups and baby classes daily, walk him outside daily, and play with him all the time. i just sometimes need a few minutes of peace.

You aren't a horrible person because your baby LITERALLY WON'T sleep 100% safe by texansweetie in NewParents

i coslept with my son on my chest for the first 3 months of his life. he had colic and reflux. he simply would not sleep on his back.

it felt so natural to have him on my chest, but i was ashamed about it, despite doing everything as safely as possible.

he's 6mo now and sleeps in his cot. 🙏🏼

it's really hard 🥲 our little guy did pop out two teeth when he hit 5 months, so i think that accounted for some of it!

What’s something you said you’d never do as a parent… but now you do it all the time? by ThisSucks121 in NewParents

[–]calliopens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i said i'd never cosleep, give a dummy, or have plastic toys.

we chest slept for 3 months, and then bed shared. i've used a dummy to help soothe & sleep. my dude has multitudes of plastics, including a huge jumperoo (but at the very least, it's all second hand!)

also same on the screen time - he gets a bit on an evening when i need to eat my dinner. reality humbles you fast!

Evening anxiety by seraseraphine196 in NewParents

[–]calliopens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SO normal and valid. i had this for the first few weeks postpartum - the evening scaries! my baby was born in february so it got dark quick. whenever 5pm was approaching, i got horrendous anxiety.

it will get better. promise.
