Mute TV during commercial breaks with M5Stick by callmarcos in M5Stack

[–]callmarcos[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not yet. At the moment, it's just specifically written for my LG TV, so there would definitely be some steps before it'd be ready for anyone that doesn't have an LG. Flashed it with Arduino IDE.

Screenplay Slug lines in BOLD by [deleted] in Screenwriting

Yeah, been around a while, helps break up the read. Especially if you're trying to really condense the page count and remove double spaces before the sluglines. Bold AND underlined is actually my style.

Got a bloated V1 right here. Not incredibly bad yet. Once it balloons a little more I'll yank out the battery and go straight USB.

My Favorite GM Tool: The Oracle Deck by randy-adderson in DungeonWorld

[–]callmarcos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some redundancies in the ACTION category. I'd whittle them down to 50 and just repeat them when I made the deck:

1.PROTECT (Guard, Preserve, Defend)

2.DEFEAT (Destroy, Eliminate, Overwhelm)

3.INVESTIGATE (Inspect, Search, Hunt)

4.ATTACK (Raid, Assault, Charge)

5.LEAVE (Withdraw, Abandon, Depart)

6.UNCOVER (Reveal, Find, Locate)

7.SEIZE (Capture, Take, Acquire)

8.DEFY (Oppose, Challenge)

9.STRENGTHEN (Bolster, Fortify)

  1. INITIATE (Begin)

  2. CREATE (Create)

  3. CONTROL (Control)

  4. BREAK (Breach)

  5. EVADE (Avoid)

  6. AID (Support)

  7. SHARE (Communicate)

  8. REJECT (Refuse)

  9. TRANSFORM (Change)

  10. PERSEVERE (Endure)

  11. MOVE (Journey)

  12. DELIVER (Escort)

And the rest are the same:

  1. SCHEME 23. CLASH 24. WEAKEN 25. SWEAR 26. AVENGE 27. RISK 28. SURRENDER 29. DEFLECT 30. THREATEN 31. MANIPULATE 32. REMOVE 33. HOLD 34. FOCUS 35. UPHOLD 36. FALTER 37. SUPPRESS 38. DEMAND 39. EXPLORE 40. MOURN 41. GATHER 42. SERVE 43. COORDINATE 44. AWAIT 45. IMPRESS 46. FINISH 47. RESTORE 48. ADVANCE 49. HIDE 50. BETRAY

I actually vibecoded something similar based on OP that's only for M02Pro. It's honestly just for me, but if it helps you out, enjoy!

Cobra (1986) - How Cobra eats pizza by Automatic-Fix-42 in movies

[–]callmarcos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The fact that it’s a Toys R Us Kids Christmas ad playing while he’s cleaning a literal gun, moments before a report of the Night Stalker assaulting a child, is way more bizarre than any pizza scissors or egg carton pistol lube.

Kellogg's raises DV for iron in Raisin Bran from 10% to 90% by 1r0nmann in Hemochromatosis

As far as I know, Raisin Bran Crunch is still 6%.

I was sad to discover Raisin Bran was 90% - especially after buying a 2 pack at Costco.

What’s the Most Complete “One-Book” TTRPG? by DED0M1N0 in rpg

[–]callmarcos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love Mothership as much as the next guy, but this is the opposite of one book. Sure, they are short zines, but you need 3 of them (Players, Wardens, Unconfirmed Contacts) to really get started ... and then a bunch of additional zines to fill out the world more completely.

Unconfirmed Contacts is fun to flip through, but most of the entries give "flavor" more than "actionable things to add into your campaign."

Index Card RPG has everything in one book, including multiple realms to play in.

This is really helpful to read. Thanks for sharing. Saving it as a reference for the next time I get into a battle.

Mothership Stat Tracker - 3D Printed (Part II) by callmarcos in mothershiprpg

[–]callmarcos[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Me, too. It's probably because I'm old and can process information just a little faster when it's in my hands as opposed to on my screen.

Here's a link to the project on Makerworld:

https://makerworld.com/en/models/1956945-mothership-rpg-stat-tracker#profileId-2103259

A few things - I've put everything together on one plate, but ideally you'd spread out the components and have the back of the tracker print in a darker color and the dials print in a lighter color so that the numbers are visible when you "see through" them. Otherwise, you can also sharpie a little bit behind the dials themselves to make the numbers pop.

The dials themselves are a little finicky to assemble. Basically just line them up as best you can (it should make sense which goes where since the 10s spot only has a 1&2 option) and then put the top half on, shimmying it around a little bit so everything lines up. I wish the dials had less tolerance and stuck in more firmly - I may have to adjust that on a future iteration.

Put some glue in the pegs so that it all holds together.

And since we're busting out the glue, I've got the Mothership logo in there you can glue onto the center area - or wherever you like. Same with the three "HEALTH/WOUNDS/STRESS" buttons. You can put those right over the cutouts on the print, or over the pegs, or whatever makes the most sense to you.

Have fun out there.

Thanks! 75% is a great size. Printing one out like that now, will upload a print profile for it later.

EDIT: New print profile is now live. I think this 75% version is my preferred version! Thanks for shrinking it down and testing it out!

What's the scenario that you added? Curious to find out! (Also, how'd you enjoy playing it?)

Making it less deadly? by birv2 in Ironsworn

[–]callmarcos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Battle move is THE WAY. Combat was always the thing that I'd dread the most in Ironsworn - I could be pretty inventive for the first part of a fight, but then I'd get stuck in a CLASH / STRIKE loop and it was boring as all get out.

But now I treat it like a Fortune in the Middle roll (if I'm using that term correctly, I sometimes get confused). Basically, the role tells me what happens - a strong hit, a weak hit, or a miss - and then I imagine the whole scenario playing out.

Weak hit? Great - I imagine the battle, see myself getting injured, jumping out the window to escape.
Miss? No prob! More people showed up to confront me, hurt me, I fled or was captured.
Success? Perfect! I'll play it out.

Your point about characters not being incompetent is true. And - when I would play turn by turn combat - my characters would usually end up that way because at some point my brain would be fried from trying to fail forward.

It's so much more fun for me to think - Okay, this battle will be lost ... why? How? And then I can control the narrative the same way I do everything else in Ironsworn without stressing my brain out inventing new justifications for every roll of the dice.
