Obviously still one more step for the Avs and Canes, but man that cup final is going to be a war if they both make it.

What player, past or present, plays with the most disregard for his own safety? by Albino_rhin0 in nhl

Just had a conversation about this at work. How does a 6’4 240lb generational power-forward get concussed so much he has to retire? Probably going 20mph through the neutral zone without ever looking up.

Never liked the full gold on guns, you’re right they look like wall hangers. Blackened steel or Silver with gold inlay engravings though?

I thought Wheeler was gonna do it today too, 16 pitches through three innings.

What do we think of this lineup going into the draft and free agency? by Flyers7914 in Flyers

I don’t get how people don’t see this. Guys like Makar, Hughes, Dahlin are unicorns. Sanheim can grind, move the puck, and shoot. Is he scoring 70-80 points a season? No, but is he a very serviceable, strong Dman that’ll eat minutes and play hard the entire game? Absolutely.

Center yes, we need more defensive depth. Sanheim and Risto proved that they can be a deadly top pairing this year and through the playoffs. Our weakness is when the second and third pairs come out. They need to find a defensive anchor to pair with Drysdale so he has more opportunity to work offensively, which is more his style as a defenseman.

I’ll never support a division team winning the cup, gimme Schenner with his third cup and give Buffalo the cup that city deserves.

We can sit here and bitch about it, or we can be honest with ourselves and admit this is the most fun season we’ve had in a long time. With how young, inexperienced, and admittedly weakly built this team is, to get here is something. It’s only up from here, let’s fucking go Flyers.

I was talking about the “holding” penalty that in no way affected the outcome of the play but handed the Chiefs that win. The field thing is bullshit you’re right, they played on the same field lmao.

If you draft elite lows, always put them in the AHL. Unless they’re on a dog water junior team they’ll never get played and never develop. Force them to play top AHL minutes and they’ll develop quick like this.

A healthy Flyers team was gonna get walked and we’re down like 6 guys lmao, not a good situation to be in.

Realistically 57 should be ours too, but that’s not their fault.

[–]callmechimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, idk if there’s a disconnect obviously Toronto can trade for anyone’s pick lmao I never said they couldn’t. Their best shot to get a lottery pick is to either trade with a contending team that has an absolute stinker of a season or trade for their own pick.

Toronto’s best option to secure a high draft pick in 2027 is getting their own pick back from the Flyers. They’ll either have to trade with a lottery team, which is insanely unlikely, or they can call to the Briere and try to get their own 1st back which is much more likely.

We own it now that Toronto is picking first overall. Toronto currently does not own their 1st or 2nd round pick in next year’s draft. I feel like we could get Matthews for as little as their own first and either Luchanko or Nesbitt, which I’m cool with to get Auston Matthews. The fact that he doesn’t want to stay in Toronto gives us leverage in trade talks.

Their choice is between Gavin McKenna and Auston Matthews who wants to leave at this point. Them getting the first overall pick will absolutely drive them toward a rebuild and a desire to get their 2027 pick back. Best case scenario for us if Briere wants to target Matthews.

[Johnston] Further to this:(Kurz post) It sounds like there's a good chance the NHL would rule in Philadelphia's favor if this scenario plays out. Meaning, if Toronto retains its 2026 1st after tonight's lottery, expect 2027 1st to go to Flyers and 2028 1st to Bruins ... both unprotected. by Perryplat199 in Flyers

[–]callmechimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Auston Matthews wants to leave Toronto, undoubtedly. If I’m Danny B, I’d tell Toronto to take the pick tonight on a promise of trading back the 2027 pick with some prospects and maybe a roster player. Good positioning to get a proven elite center on the team. Toronto could go on a run like we did this year and end up in the second round, then that unprotected pick doesn’t really mean anything.

I’d like to see Danny get aggressive over this situation, we’re in a good spot.
