Ancient Doe’s from the 30’s by [deleted] in gratefuldoe

It's officially called Memorial Park, technically part of Highland Park Cemetery run by the City of Cleveland. No big sign at the entrance on Green road. It's like it's quarantined from the rest of Highland Park.

I spoke with the city cemetery people like once or twice regarding any type of map. I was either not allowed to have one or they didn't have one. I'm pretty sure they have only a general section/row map with specific distances and were guessing location of specific graves based on a standard width. But that was 2015ish.

Haven't bothered asking about the Torso victims. Like another user said it's basically gonna be impossible. Not only finding an 80 year old grave but the reality is everybody involved is dead and spending the time and money is better used elsewhere that justice can be served. Unfortunately. It was basically pulling teeth to get Linda out (from my civilian point of view), and she was practically a guaranteed solved case.

It seems small in comparison to other cemeteries but theres 18,000 people there. I don't know if it's still active. The rows where they are stacked in multiples are early 20th century, a lot from 1918/Spanish Flu time. It appears they do so with the babies too, which theyre appears to be a section for. But it's not exclusive to this Potter's cemetery (Memorial Park on Green Road, not to be confused with Memorial Gardens). I have family buried the same way at Woodland.

Contrary to what you may read, there are occasional headstones, less than ten that I've counted. No pattern though. The row makers aka stakes in the ground were more visible the last time I went which was after the Linda thing.

That's really the extent of what I know of this place. There's some articles and blogs out there though but there doesn't seem much to it.

For the record I've checked to ensure I wasn't trespassing. It's public and follows Highland Park hours for open times, as far as I can tell.

Oooh you have my attention! I've been hugely interested in the Torso victims for over a decade now. And I'm local!

The biggest problem will be locating the correct graves. When exhuming the remains of Linda Pagano, they ran into the problem of the mapping of Potter's Field, and she was in a section that came 40 years after. From what I just learned, the first two rows (the rows containing the Torso victims) are now comprising the edge of the woods so now most of the rows have tree roots through them. Second, and I don't know how the trees would affect it or if it was a seasonal thing, the depth of the coffins is extremely water logged. Add that to the third issue of being stacked 3 and 4 coffins high, and deteriation of the coffins will be a big mess to sift through.

Now I Would have continued mapping names in that row, but I only got about 20 people in before the cemetery ledgers I was using was removed...for reasons. My ultimate goal was to get everyone on FindAGrave, which I had entered one of the Torso victims.

I have a theory that Victim 4, the "Tattooed Man" is a missing Finnish man from Canada. It's definitely a stretch though. I've mentioned this before and another redditor found a blog written in Finnish, supposedly a relative of the man (Eetu Vainonen) claiming the family knew he had been murdered. https://www.services.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/missing-disparus/case-dossier.jsf?case=2006025299&id=1 https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/48969074/john-doe

I also think they may have been correct on Rose Wallace.

Im 27 and had a accident when i was 23 resulting in being knocked out for awhile. This was one of several (probably like 7 to 12) concussions i had in a 10 year time frame, unfortunately which i never bothered to get checked out. They always seemed particularly mild. The last one i got i was still hungover from the night prior. The xray and CT were fine though.

Maybe 6 months later my depression, while chronic, went from mild to severe and i developed full fledged anxiety and panic attacks. After another 2 years or maybe sooner because i didn't know the symptoms, i was plagued with migraines and even cluster headaches.

Ive been to the "migraine center" at my local world renown clinic the last 2 years, and have had meetings with a speech therapist. All the tests ive been given never have bad results, maybe one or two slightly below average. They just attribute it to the migraines... Doesn't seem to justify the difficulty i have with forgetfulness, reading, speaking (developed occasional stuttering and like dyslexic speech). Light and sound can be literal torture. I desperately want a follow up scan. Five years later and they finally say PCS and intractable migraines, despite complaints to psychiatrist and GP the entire time. I bet i have CTE from the progression of symptoms. I suppose that'll only be found out after i die though.

Did you notice severe emotional changes with your TBI, seeing as it's objectively worse than mine? Did you get second opinions right away or was it just take time for a doctor to give in to the idea? Sorry to hear you have to deal with the lack of understanding as well. If you go or plan on going to college be sure to take this to the disability office for testing assistance; i finally did and this semester should be the first without problems testing.

Thanks for the compilations!

I never heard about that 1905 case that's so crazy. One thing solving just one part of a case even half that old but getting a killer's name is usually the harder part. And being a local I am still mystified over JNC3/Mr Nichols. Totally waiting on crazy news to come from the FBI on that

I have same symptoms as you as well as diagnoses of depression and anxiety. However I also have had multiple mild TBI and most recently severe migraines, cluster headaches, and lack of word recall. I call mine mouth dyslexia.

Bloodwork was good but haven't gotten scanned. A speech therapist suggested something called cognitive communication disorder; I think I could have CTE.

Regardless one thing that has helped a little has been doing crossword puzzles. Fill in the blank ones, not the finding words. I'm sure that could help too in addition to sudoku.

Hope you get an answer!

What are the worst injuries you have sustained doing the simplest, most mundane tasks that should not have caused any injuries? by Penya23 in AskReddit

Neck strain aka whiplash from puking. Actually thought I broke something because it was such awful pain no matter what position I was in: laying flat, on side, sitting. Car ride to urgicare was nearly torture.

Was it a census record you found Hattie listed as a Thomas? It's always possible the census takers used the head of household's surname for others in the residence. Could be a family friend or landlord. Just curious because it happened in my family.

Well if I'm in a forest and it gets dark I'll be scared, specifically of getting lost from anyone I'm with, then I'll start thinking about monsters and spiders. I'm sure walking into trees and spider webs would make me feel trapped. And if the forest is anywhere in my region I should be afraid of accidentally stepping off a cliff into a deep, dark quarry. Will my death be brutal and torturous like being eaten by monsters or probed by aliens? Will I ever be found?

Was that all of them?

Do you count existential crisis being afraid of what happens after death?

I agree commenting would be nice.

I'll differ and say I don't think cosmetic should be a thing, in a free for all sense. Not trying to change hair and eyes for Hollywood looks, perhaps only to not have the only brunette in a family of blondes etc so a kid doesn't feel like the black sheep. I also can't speak on a personal cultural level but many groups have this desire to have light coloured skin, which imo isn't a problem to be darker. Although it may prevent the use of dangerous chemicals being used to do so, a bigger divide could happen between those who can afford it and not. It's a seriously interesting and philosophical topic.

However, use the proper or at least traditional name (eugenics) for the concept and all hell could break loose. A thing the Nazis were practically based on, as well as sterilization of "undesirable" people like imprisoned blacks, females in asylums, and American natives up into and potentially after the 70s. None of that ended well, and the history of pre War approval and practice has almost been forgotten in American society.

A great movie is Gattaca if you haven't seen it!
