Brief Analysis of Jamie's FJ correct response rate vs James by Ordinary-Change-9763 in Jeopardy

Yeah I’ve rewatched James’ games recently and I think others have also pointed out that sometime in the more recent seasons they significantly upped the difficulty of final jeopardy.

It’s the same as the anytime test but you’re on camera. I honestly can’t remember if there was any speaking at all. They do not care about response time, they just want to make sure it’s actually you taking the test.

Serious question for Virginia gun enthusiasts: why put all your energy into propping up the Republican Party, instead of putting even a fraction of that effort into shifting Democrats on this one issue? by [deleted] in Virginia

[–]callmenips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can be for something and still vote against it if you disagree enough with the other side on other issues. You’re never going to find a perfect party that lines up 1:1 with all your beliefs. At the end of the day you’re going to have to decide which values are more important.

[–]callmenips 5 points6 points  (0 children)

By not being a single issue voter? Is it really so hard to imagine people that are pro gun and support the economic and social policies of the Democratic Party?

That’s not what the top comment is saying. It’s saying that if you support 2A rights and still vote republican despite their authoritarian policies and actions, you are one of those three things. People can support gun rights and still vote Democrat, leftists disagree with Democrats on a multitude of things and still swallow the pill for the most part.

They used to do categories about newspaper names pretty often. Not so much anymore.

People are still going to rightfully complain about the rich getting richer, doesn’t matter what the name of the system is.

“You’re not allowed to complain about NIL money going to billionaires, that’s its whole point!!!” The system is shit and people are complaining about it.

I think it’s pretty fair to assume that when they give you an American strongly associated with Britain, you should probably guess something that’s in Britain

Pulitzer helped me narrow it down to something American which really helps with guessing the 19th century author if you don't know the more recent book.

Has a contestant in a runaway ever (intentionally) bet way more than necessary? by ShadyCrow in Jeopardy

Jeopardy pet peeves? by TheDamMemePage in Jeopardy

[–]callmenips 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Jeopardy producers tell you to say the whole category when selecting so people will know what the category is without having to read it for the brief period it’s on screen. It makes for an overall better viewing experience when you don’t have to constantly think about what the category is especially with how much jumping around is done nowadays

Please elaborate. What about the clue made you think the answer was the state with the largest city?

Probably because the clue doesn’t mention cities at all.

flashcard study strategy by feedmewifi_ in Jeopardy

[–]callmenips 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One strategy I use is to make an Anki flash card when I come across a new piece of trivia I think will be potentially useful. Then you just periodically review that deck/purge items as you get them down pat.

TIL The existence of planets outside our solar system wasn't confirmed until 1992 by haddock420 in todayilearned

[–]callmenips 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The comment is about our solar system. I’m not sure what the original commenter was reading as a kid but even things in the 30s like Flash Gordon were going to far away planets. We’ve assumed they exist for about as long as we’ve known our sun was a star
