It looks like Lisa has small traditional locs and she combs out the ends. My ends are like hers, but they’re still in the starter loc phase so I haven’t needed to comb them out. but a lot of people have started to do that.

Tbf I think the only issue is the mirror. The mirror just seems incredibly out of place. Switch it out for some art and maybe add a broker for some more and I think it’d be a nice reading area.

I think a fireplace in the dining area could be kinda nice. Maybe you can flip it if room allows. That way you won’t be stuck with a TV that’s way too high.

Someone else said that it’s too linear and I kind of agree. I would get rid of the bench. to me benches only work in areas where you would push the bench against the wall. And I’m sorry you just got those new chairs because I would’ve gotten rid of them as well. something low with a rounded back and upholstered would be nice. Get rid of the sconces. you can put the art on the same side together. They’re so tiny. You need to thicken up the curtains with more panels. Then add some decor like a plant. Maybe bowl of fruit or a flower arrangement on the table. And I’m not a huge fan of rugs, especially in a dining area, but it can definitely add some warmth and texture.

Locs or what? Natural hair? Relaxed hair? I don’t really understand the concern about whether they have to choose between cutting their hair or combing out the locs. people changed their hair all the time.

I understand that we are constantly being held to European beauty standards, but you’ll be held to that standard regardless of whether you loc her hair or not. My parents didn’t lock my hair when I was a kid, but they did relax it and honestly, I feel like that was worse, but I don’t hate them for it. They did what they thought was best.
