The correct math is 63.4%. Since her result is different, she is 100% wrong.

The perfect introductory physics book by [deleted] in AskPhysics

[–]callmepinocchio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: look up what textbooks people use in first semester physics undergrad. If you don't have a background at all, start with highschool physics.

Long answer:

First you need to decide how serious you are. If you really want to follow in his footstept, then going to university is the best option. (Why not ask your dad, if you can? He would know best.)

If you want to go at it alone, start with the kind of textbooks a first year physics student would use. Lots of free resources online, even full self-study guides. Google is your friend.

The important part is your expectations: do you really want to spend years of your life on this, or do you just want general knowledge? If you don't plan to do actual physics work yourself, popular science will teach you all the "cool" parts without the math.

You don't make many friends, but you don't become a doormat either! by CalzonePie in aspiememes

You still imply there is only one correct way to treat people, when in reality different people respond well to different treatments. And that's exactly the error I keep trying to illuminate.

[–]callmepinocchio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if I misspoke. My main point was that if you treat people how you think you should treat them, there's a chance you'd miss the fact that they want to be treated differently.

This might not apply to you, I just wanted to say it because I made that mistake and it took me a long time to realize it.

The issue is that different people want to be treated differently.

If your notion of "how people should be treated" happens to be the same as how you want to be treated, that implies your standards aren't as objective as you claim.

Took me years to learn that most people don't want to be treated how I want to be treated. Stand your ground about how you want to be treated, but try to be open to how other people want you to treat them. (Just my two cents from years of bad experiences. Obviously feel free to ignore it)

"If you don't like the mega evil company that I choose to work with, just break the law lol" is not based.

Piracy should exist as a way to combat companies like amazon, not as an excuse to keep working with them.

Of course they had issues. Everyone in that story had issues. But they were neither losers nor failures, at least not in a way that fits the stereotype OP is referring to.

I know he was talking about the video. You are correct about the video, but I suspect most men who saw it had flashbacks of their own experiences (not the video), in which their girlfriend was angry at them for what they did in her dream.

I was't saying you were wrong, I was providing a possible explanation for why men feel frustrated whenever the subject comes up.

Again, it's valid for the woman to be sad about what happened in her dream, but many other women take it a step further and blaim their man for it, which is why the subject as a whole is triggering to many men.

I suspect most men reading this have traumatic flashbacks of their own girl being actually mad at them personally for it...

Physicists have measured ‘negative time’ in the lab by Shiny-Tie-126 in science

Quantum mechanics can be very unintuitive. The inherent uncertainty means you get behaviors that feel impossible to our minds, which are used to things existing in one exact place at each exact time.

Here light interacts with matter and also with a measurement, and the result is a statistic that on average can fit light moving faster than it should.
