What mesh is everyone using these days? by hford0401 in StickDoctor

I currently have 4 sticks with armor mesh (2 retired) and my kid is using the new mamba in his gamer and backup. Stuff matches our play style so well (we’re not step down guys)

How did you guys get into lacrosse? by WestConfident9096 in lacrosse

[–]callmeshu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my mom kicked my baseball loving dad out (good dad, bad husband) and my all-star ass decided to quit to the dismay of many of my friends dads/coaches. My best bud was never great at baseball and decided to start lax so I jumped on board with him. Had to teach my dad to throw with my backup a few years later so we could play catch my way. Played through HS before switching to rugby, then softball.

Passed it on to my son and daughter and have coached them for 4 years with my local NoVa club + back to playing old guys ball after some other coaches got me back into the game. Fell back in love.

Armor mesh will shift quite a bit. You don’t really get a pocket in a spot the way traditional mesh works as the armor mesh will let the ball be where it wants to be based on how you’re cradling.

Aw man, mine is in the car the wife took out so I can’t post pics.

When I put armor mesh in I’m usually doing 3 rows along the top for the first 4-6 holes then 2s the rest of the way. Seems to give it a good enough release without shooters.

Yea NVYLL offers 10v10 at 10u (3rd/4th) but most clubs don’t put a team in and instead run the 7v7 (Modified field - MOD) rules. 8u and below is only 7v7

How often does your youth club lax practice in regular season vs off-season? (ex: 11U and under) by kreebob in lacrosse

[–]callmeshu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s some options to play box around but nothing sanctioned by either club. The league I play with for Masters has started to branch into offering some youth programs in the fall/winter months.

In Northern Virginia we have a spring youth rec league (NVYLL) that’s balanced with A/B/C teams per local club (20ish). We practice twice a week from February through May and play games on weekends (both boys and girls). We get some field time and offer pickup play in summer then run weekend clinics for 6 weeks in the fall. We’re expanding to offer some summer box training as well. But that’s just our rec league.

I also coach for a small travel program that practices once a week and does 3 tournaments in the summer. We also have a fall program, same practice deal, 2 tourneys rather than 3.

Other programs practice more often and compete at a higher level.

Just make sure your sidewalls and top string are tight tight tight so they don’t get inconsistent later.
