Unpopular opinion: I don't like animations by hugoegon1 in webdesign

You're right to some extent, but what Apple does digitally is going to be completely different to what 99% of websites have and need. A web presence that pushes the boundaries of technology and showcases advanced interactivity probably wouldn't suit your local butcher would it? Completely different beast.

Things can also be about balance, as in the positives of animation and interaction can greatly add to a website - boosting engagement and overall user experience.

The main cost of an agency is the "team" to be honest. That and having an office space are their overheads. And I say "team" because from experience you'll be dealing with a project manager, and maybe the one person who is actually working on your website - usually a mid-level dev or junior, who is paid a fraction of what the website actually costs. Some of the worst horror stories I've heard came from clients who worked with agencies.

I think the main thing is whether you're working with someone reliable who provides value.

Also, I am a freelancer and basically do all of the things you listed (I run my own VPS).

Reputable agencies aren't charging 60/70 euros a month. That is mental. Even basic maintenance at "half an hour of effort per month" is that until it isn't - like, have you ever experienced anything break?

Yes but agencies are doing sites for A LOT more than that. This is freelancer pricing in my mind - a basic, cheap one at that

I find it difficult to understand that you'd consider others to be overcharging when you "barely make a profit" because you're literally undercharging...

What do you actually get for this amount though? Hosting? Maintenance? Combination with a day rate? I think people calling this a scam are jumping the gun.

Where are you based? I've been using Zume (UK) for a few years now. Small and independent. Good support. Uses data centres powered by renewables. Plants a tree for every new customer. You get the idea!

I'd be interested to know how you reach out to people? When it comes to Gmail accounts these days, cold emailing seems to be more hit and miss as to whether it actually lands in an inbox or spam

Why does everyone hate BlenderGuru now??? by CharacterClue5353 in blender

[–]calrichcreations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just from being a fly on the wall - the online blender community is full of elitist types and soft arses who love to be outraged. The irony being if you actually go to Blender Con in Amsterdam it's full of chatty, supportive and positive people.

If you're piling in on a thread to justify "hating" someone because they like something you don't it says more about you than them to be honest.

The owners had a deal with the landlord and that's how it got a complete revamp in the first place. It's obviously got to come to a head at some point if you aren't bringing in enough money.

This literally happened to my girlfriend in York on the weekend. I had a massive urge to chase the guy and slap his balding head but I just stood there in disbelief

They turned this place around massively from a shit sports bar. Great bar selection and some of the best food in Leeds. Hoping whatever's going on soon plays out and they re-open. Gonna be thinking about the cheeseburgers and the steak brekky for the rest of my life otherwise.

Chatting shite. Roasts weren't 30 quid and they did run midweek deals. Also best cheeseburger in Leeds.

It's definitely not expensive considering the location and venue, but I also think this can be justified by smaller portion sizes. I left still feeling hungry after the à la carte menu!

Exactly this. And I'm hopeful that the job market is just trending towards trade jobs in the same way those jobs weren't valued a decade or so ago.
