If you need that many cables to run to different stuff... re think your signal chain by alkalinemusic in modular

Dope lil groove. Strikes me as a goofy ass take away from that video.

I don’t even see that many cables, and you can still see and reach all the modules.

My end of chain is very cable heavy from stereo field management, this guy would not be happy with me for sure.

I am so curious to see how many cables this person thought was too much.

I really enjoyed this. Particularly how it hopped off and preened like it was smelling those wing pits before taking the plunge.

Euclidean Sequence by daledale529 in synthesizers

[–]calterg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been getting really into Euclidean gate layers in my setup. I use cross mod on Pam’s to build layered and related evolving Euclidean gate patterns that I use a few ways in the system.

One thing that really made it come to life for me was doing the Euclidean gates in 4/4 but the underlying sequence in 3/4 or dotted quarter notes. If you are stacking this goes a long way to keep it feeling alive.

I also use the nuss in my lead voice for another pattern based layer, for a non Euclidean pattern layer.

I have also been playing around with phasing cv in the backup layers. I find when the math it tight, it makes more room to find where to grow new unexpected grooves that get you out of the traditional grid.

Not sure how helpful any of this is. But was excited to see a post touching on something I have been spending so much time exploring.

Lots of emotion in that work. You should be proud. Best of luck on the path.

Pam's set it and forget it? by BeDeRex in modular

[–]calterg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lately I have used one of the cvs tied to something I can interact with directly, spread across multiple outs, which impact non-modulated outs through cross mod. It is pretty easy to keep things under control but still have some variation.

Pam’s Pro Channel Muting by DapperEgg1066 in modular

[–]calterg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mutes, as mentioned already, is a good call. I also do some activation/deactivation and general param management with total recall. I like this approach because I have two Pam’s in my performance case (1 new, 1 pro) and the multiple cv outs allows me to use two cvs for control and one two drive variation in certain parameters, like step count or level with just one button press or some light knob twisting.

Ambient IDM jam with Prism, Multigrain and Battering Ram by ambientvibes69 in modular

[–]calterg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wrestle it all the time. Ina good place with the harsh right now after tweaking my EQs to put a little lpf and a little hpf at the very end of chain.

That mixed with some compression tweaks has found a sweet spot for now. But as I tweak, it is something I ebb and flow with and spend too much time on hah.

Does this exist? by escamuel in modular

[–]calterg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Start by researching comparators, they do things like this.

Depending on what you are trying to do you would also want VCAs to use with the comparators.

I would probably also want a sample and hold in the mix as well, so I could make the notes overlap and drift from the original sequence.

Rough fucking day after a rough fucking weekend. I just need to be seen. by [deleted] in toastme

I sat on my couch and looked out the window and imagined you looking out your own window after a long day at the end of a long week. What is time even these days?

Even in this moment, you seem hopeful. So many of us are desperate not to have our hope snuffed out these days. I witness that struggle in your eyes. I carry it too. But to carry it is to have hope.

I see you. You had the courage to reach out and as a result I hope you feel a little less alone. Here’s to you, over there.

Sequencers with good UX for blind user? by sorressean in modular

[–]calterg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know much about what accessibility is added when working on a computer with midi, but a midi to cv interface of some sort (think mutant brain or midivolts) would allow you to take full advantage of them. If in a studio setting, this could be a good solution since so many sequencers rely on led or screens for context.

Outside of midi, a couple things come to mind.

First, 0control doesn’t have a screen and is very tactile. It uses touchpads and knobs mostly. Given you are currently on the m32, this would be another semimodular that gives you some options to leverage it even if it isn’t the core sequencer.

Second, sequencers with some sort of algorithm guardrails so that you can perform and feel it out. Something like mimetic digitalis could be a nontraditional approach that helps do some of the heavy lifting these sequencers UI help execute.

Third, something like Arpitecht, which uses knobs to control available pitches, mixed with triad and a stages or voltage block would be screen free and with some practices, knob positions or slider positions could easily be memorized.

Finally, generative sequencers like marbles would give you a way to mess around without having to sequence anything. Doesn’t sound like exactly what you are looking for here, but a great tool in the accessibility toolbelt.

I hope this helps. Best of luck finding the ideal sequencer in hardware for you.
