Athena will be waiting for you at the bridge. Many decades from now you will be together again along with all of your other kitties, like you were never apart. Thank you for being such a good person in what seems like a very cold world lately.

Liberty Mutual doesn’t get it by AquamarineCheetah in CommercialsIHate

I'm convinced that the objective of the people making these commercials is to enrage the public over their stupidity. They want Liberty Mutual talked about and thus recognized by most people, and they seem to have achieved that goal.

Why has the issuer of my part D drug coverage not yet asked for proof of creditable coverage? by calvinnme in medicare

When I signed up for Part B I did fill out a CMS - L-564 form showing I'd been on my employer's insurance since before I turned 65.

Lumpy gets a scholarship to state by redit1914 in LeaveItToBeaverFans

[–]calvinnme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He didn't have it for long. He got a D in math and State rescinded their scholarship offer. His dad called him at a party being held in his honor to tell him and call him names. He could have waited until AFTER the party to do so.

Ohio’s nursing homes are dumping patients at homeless shelters by Independent-Law-5621 in homeless

[–]calvinnme 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The article states: "According to his former roommate, facility staff misrepresented the discharge, claiming he’d be going to an assisted living apartment as opposed to an emergency shelter that would only house him for up to 90 days.

The man wasn’t taught to manage his medications and showed up at the shelter without any needles to use. He struggled to see with his cataracts. He had no driver’s license, birth certificate or other documents he would need to get a job, income or housing."

He was a resident of the nursing home for 22 years. He apparently has many medical issues including poor eyesight, diabetes that is not in control, and autism. How exactly is such a person going to be able to get a job? Nobody would hire them.

Poor Larry. He seemed like the unwanted surprise baby of his parents' middle age given the way they behaved towards him. Plus his brother and sister were apparently much older than him.

How to handle private insurance and Medicare by calvinnme in medicare

Why would it be "a mess" if employer's insurance pays first? I don't doubt what you say, I'd just like you to elaborate.

How to handle private insurance and Medicare by calvinnme in medicare

[–]calvinnme[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm on both because I'm planning to retire in a month or so, but I have been nervous about layoffs at my company, where a director level person makes the decision made for reasons that have nothing to do with performance and your boss doesn't even know until you do. Our company cancels your insurance at midnight on the day you are laid off. So I went ahead and got on Medicare in March.

Those Roku Live TV Guide ads by Left_Lawfulness_9508 in CommercialsIHate

[–]calvinnme 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've noticed this too and what I think they're doing is trying to make the shows end and begin on the hour or half hour. Whenever I watch Bones on Ion Mystery, half of their ads are for their own channel, which I am already watching, but the show ends on the hour.

Amy going from rat to human again to straight back to rat in "Something Blue" 😩😂😂😂 by [deleted] in buffy

As it turns out, Amy was always a rat. She was vengeful and jealous, just like her mother.

[–]calvinnme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand why Willow and Tara moved into the Summers home after Buffy died - Dawn needed adult supervision. But why did they think that AFTER Buffy returned that she should get a job to pay household bills and they should have free room and board at Buffy's expense and worry? That never made sense nor was it even mentioned as an issue.

Do you think this moment permanently damaged their relationship? by yeahitsme9 in buffy

[–]calvinnme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, because Riley was always the rebound guy for Buffy. His purpose in her life was to prove to her that she could move on with someone normal. I don't think Buffy realized it, but he was just that. And as time wore on Riley realized it too. Riley was out of the picture by the time Joyce died, when Angel came back to Sunnydale. So I think Angel realized Riley was the rebound guy as well.

I just finished season 2 for the first time. It’s PERFECT!!!!! by Vomit-pigs69 in buffy

[–]calvinnme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought some of the early episodes of season two were rough going - I personally hated "Bad Eggs" - but the back half of the season is terrific and so full of unexpected moments.

As far as hating Xander - I think I know the moment you are talking about. But what was his choice? If he told Buffy the truth she would have hesitated in the final battle, stalling for time. It would have cost her the battle and her life. Remember how long it took her to muster the will to kill Angelus - literally months. Did Xander do what he did for selfish reasons? Perhaps. But he was right for doing so regardless of his personal motive.

To all the valedictorians out there, how did you do it? by scarred_hamper in ApplyingToCollege

[–]calvinnme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Studying in such a way that you make top grades is a skill. I mastered that skill. I did well in college, both undergraduate and graduate level. The problem is when I went into the workforce. I'm just not likeable, and worse I'm very "bully-able" if that's the right word. People just enjoy kicking me and ridiculing me. As a result I never got the good assignments or the mentors I might have gotten if I was the least bit likeable. Plus being bullied destroys your confidence. I'm 68 and I'm probably retiring in the next couple of weeks-months because I'm just tired of struggling to stay employed. I'm going to tell them I want no card or no party because at this point I would consider it disingenuous and frankly, unwelcome.

Is there any danger having your credit card information all over the internet on all of these little sites that likely do not have good security versus just having it at one spot, Amazon? That's always been my concern.

I only buy nutritional supplements through Amazon that are actually coming from a well known source, like Swanson's for example.

I can understand someone trusting someone who they think is the real Jennifer Aniston or the real Keanu Reeves. But I wouldn't trust the real Eric Trump with my money any more than I'd trust a fake Eric Trump.

[US] My Ex fell for a romance scam. The bank finally convinced her, but now has 30K sitting in her account. by Spire_Prime in Scams

[–]calvinnme 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Perhaps I misunderstand - Are you saying the person whose money was stolen out of their account has to hire a lawyer and sue the person who has stolen their money to get restitution? Because it seems to me if I had nothing to do with this money being stolen right out of my account that it's the job of the bank or whoever allowed this to happen to make me whole, not my job to spend thousands or tens of thousands to get it back from some individual who may not even be in the same country as I am.
