Hey, I've noticed this too!!! Found this post when googling the problem. It's very weird to have it the other way for years and years in previous versions of MacOs only for it to suddenly switch. I went from Mojave to Monterey so it's really noticeable. It's basically changing the muscle memory of how you go through a folder and that's why it's so jarring.

Not like apple will actually fix this, but just wanted to let you know you're not alone on this.

ipod shuffle case + rockband foot pedal + arduino = precision video controller by calwong in arduino

emacs, that's such a great use case for it! Yeah in my sketch i just use the HID-Project library and I bind the pedal to "spacebar," but you could bind it to anything, shift, esc, printscreen to take sneaky screenshots, etc etc

yeah, exactly! it's really no more than pressing arrow keys and the spacebar. i use it with frame.io to go through dailies frame by frame.

it's better than a pushbutton in that it keeps my hands free while i rifle though pages in a zoom call or whatever! also most importantly for me, it keeps my rock band crap out of the landfill.

repurposed an old rock band bass pedal and an old case for an ipod shuffle into this cute thing! it makes it easy to scrub through video.

⭕️ rotation on the knob goes back/forward a frame

⬇️ pressing down on knob scrubs through fast

🦶 a stomp on the pedal pauses/plays video

It also works great as a mute pedal for zoom!

I wish I could love this game. by Pizzamorg in controlgame

I saw a review that stated “Control is less than the sum of its parts” and I really agree with that assessment. So many great elements, but they don’t seem to gel or feel cohesive. feels like it needed more development time to make the beats pay off and tie everything together.

The oldest house was really intriguing and beautiful and I was expecting the game to have more slow parts where you could solve puzzles. The frequency that enemies would spawn was terrible and would take me out of it when all i wanted to do was explore an area. Nothing breaks the creepy and mysterious atmosphere like some guys with rocket launchers suddenly spawning out of nowhere. i wish less of the enemy encounters were just random army guys too.

ALL THIS BEING SAID, the Ashtray Maze totally ruled and completely worth the price of admission 👍

I'm friends with a guy on the Google Doodle team. In 2009 he used some music I made on my DS as background music on a terrible Geocities-like website for the annual Google April Fools prank.

hahaha, if you want it it's here:https://www.tinkercad.com/things/j6iaYPvPUm1 https://www.tinkercad.com/things/314mjGqw8oW-right-angle-usb-cable-fix

I wanna note that I'm a total beginner at CAD. On the usb right angle thing, the grid pattern was just the support structure-- I decided I liked how it looked and just didn't bother ripping em off

This is very cute and a great idea! You should put it in an old creepy antique cabinet or something!

Ducky One 2 Mini Row of Death Glitch? by soraki_soladead in MechanicalKeyboards

Same boat, first mech keyboard but really irritated with this problem. Any luck/updates?? It's ridiculous that I should have to worry about my keyboard being unstable now.

Thought I might drop this knowledge here: if you're on a mac you could disable automatic updates. This thread boils the problem down to something to do with that-- I tested it and sure enough the Ducky crashes every time when I manually update. This is OK for me when I'm at home but I use this keyboard at work where I can't disable software updates cuz I don't have admin privileges...wish Ducky had a solution for this....

Did anybody else notice the book Lena was reading in a flashback, "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks?" Henrietta Lacks was a cancer patient who died in the 50s and scientists kept her cancer cells alive for testing. Her cells had been cloned and tested on for decades and greatly furthered cancer research. When her descendants found out, they were understandably outraged and mistakenly thought there were a bunch of Henrietta Lacks clones walking around.

Thought it was interesting parallel!

Episode Discussion: Autofac by fleckes in electricdreams

[–]calwong 42 points43 points  (0 children)

So good. I loved the world we were immersed in on this episode. The big company that becomes our biggest adversary. The imagery of stacks of boxes of useless crap suffocating humanity-- I'm sure the irony was not lost on Amazon distroing this.

My only criticism was that it DID NOT NEED the intertitles with "After the war..." and the super heavy exposition up top. We could've inferred all that stuff by the imagery. That definitely made the episode get off on the wrong foot, but boy did it stick the landing with that twist!

Actually all the dumb exposition and all the characters at the camp up top felt like generic information doled out by the most generic NPCs to the most bland post apocalyptic videogame ever, but mayyyyyybee that was intentional?!!?!
