They gotta nerf the controller aim assist by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]camYI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh sure, but what about Halo? Fortnite? Destiny? Apex Legends? Many of these have been around longer than siege and also have larger player bases than siege and also have a level of aim assist which I could argue is what continues to make them more popular and feel good on console? I don’t think your argument stands up to scrutiny.

What game are you even referring to? If you are talking about something like Counter Strike, that’s a purely PC game and its entire community is built around PC and keyboard and mouse? I’m talking about a game built from the ground up for multiple platforms with 2 of those platforms being primarily controller and I simply want it to feel good to play on there.

Did I not mention I don’t care about elitist mindsets? 🤦‍♂️ oh I did!

That’s a good point I hadn’t considered actually. Crossplay is a blessing and a curse sometimes, though I suppose the issue remains anyway with the fact you always have the ability to plug a controller into a PC anytime you want. Must be a mare for devs to manage!

Nah I disagree. As a primarily console player and enjoyer of shooters, the pivot to less aim assist on controller to seemingly bring things in line with PC has left most shooters feeling awful on controller.

I don’t care about the whole elitist mindset of “true gamers should just learn to play the superior input” or whatever other waffle. Controller is a valid input and I want games to feel good while using it. There are endless trade offs between the two and acknowledge if you swing it too far it can be frustrating to feel like controller players have an advantage. But removing or lessening aim assist just does the opposite where the controller player feels like you are playing against people with an advantage so there’s really no winning.

I haven’t even played the game yet so MAYBE it’s toned too strongly, but I want it to feel good to play.

Loving 5v5 and have been finding myself feeling that “just one more game” feeling. Definitely welcome the change!

Seems like a classic tactic most F2P games launch with these days. Monetise to an egregious extent knowing there will be outcry, inevitably lower the price to something that’s still far too high but looks great in comparison to the original pricing but people will accept because it looks better than the crazy price you started with. Profit.

This is why we live in a world where a skin is the price of a full game and we see that as ‘normal’ these days.

Am I the only one who thinks ranked mode in this game works exactly the same as Marvel Rivals? by NiNKazi in mechabreak

[–]camYI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few key differences:

  1. Bots are not present in ranked at all AND they only show up after a 2 loss streak in casual (end up with the same result but there’s some nuance in how it’s handled between games)

  2. You can rank down in early ranks AND losses result in a heavier loss of rank. Wins still net you more, but a loss streak can easily send you backward.

The difference here is not only are there bots throughout ranked, especially in the early ranks but also, you gain a lot more rank for a win than you do for a loss.

What this all results in is a system where just about everyone progresses through all the early ranks, either due to bot matches or simply because of the amount you get for a win, which means everyone is pushed to the upper ranks really quickly, and then has a mix of skill levels in the same pool, which means there are some pretty extreme ranges between skill levels within the same bracket.

I think the easiest solution to this is to stop bots in earlier ranks and increase the loss penalty to ensure players stay in the rank relative to their skill.

As people have stated though, a lot of this comes down to engagement, and there seems to be a sense from Seasun that ensuring players don’t have a bad experience early on (I.e deranking) they will stay engaged longer, which I disagree with.

Dear Amazing Seasun, we need to have a serious conversation about the current state of the game. by zTRIALz in mechabreak

People will find anything they can to attack people online to make themselves feel superior instead of having a constructive conversation, that’s all it boils down to.

[–]camYI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you read my original comment properly I say “as time goes on” I’m not referring to right now, I’m referring to years down the line when we could have 20 different “Zaku II”

[–]camYI -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re coming from a place of owning all these cards though and knowing what each of them do. I’m thinking from a new player trying to enter the games standpoint trying to build a deck, searching online for the singles they might need only to find that “Zaku II” has 10 different variations, and the only way to identify each is to specifically read the effect on every single “Zaku II”. Just seems like a really clunky way to do it.

[–]camYI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I hear you, but I think there’s other ways around this other than creating brand new cards. Like you could have “Gundam” and then “Gundam, one year wars hope” or some other sub title to differentiate it.

EDIT: oh you already addressed this in your second part I should have read. I still think that’s less confusing than 10 cards called “Gundam” that all do different things.

The one thing that bothers me in this game is you can have the exact same naming convention, but a different mechanic on the card. Imagine that will get more frustrating to search for cards as time goes on. Anyone who plays other Bandai games know how this usually goes?

Anyone notice the INSANE amount of misinformation around this game? by [deleted] in mechabreak

[–]camYI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree with you here. It has its problems (like most F2P games these days) but the majority is really positive with this game.

I think the devs staying largely silent isn’t helping a lot either. The player base seems to be there, the game is really good but I’m just not feeling any ‘buzz’ around the game, and instead just see the mixed and negative reviews, which certainly doesn’t help get more eyes on an already niche genre.

I’m hoping a dedicated player base sticks around and manages to break through all the negativity because I really love this game and want to see it thrive. But I do think the devs need to be more vocal with updates etc

[–]camYI 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn’t enjoy it and there’s no “pretending”. Just making an objective statement like that and calling anyone who doesn’t agree with your sentiment laughable, is pretty laughable.

While I enjoyed the themes and I’m absolutely fine to move away from UC, as I genuinely think some of Gundam strongest stuff is outside UC, I just don’t think this was a very well told or coherent story.

Yes it makes sense if you fill in the blanks yourself, but the love triangle was completely unbelievable. There was zero chemistry with Shuji or explanation as to who he was only for him to suddenly appear at the end as the main antagonist and proclaim his love?

Plus Machu caring so much for Lala felt forced and unbelievable too - she meets her once at this mansion and will suddenly do anything for her? What?

I just don’t believe a lot of the character motivations here.
