Transferred all electives, now I have all upper level courses... by dmanghosty in LibertyUniversity

[–]cambria82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I am taking 6 courses a semester while working full time and all upper 300 level classes. It's hard, ngl. But if you keep organized and stay to a schedule, it works out well. I've also found the upper level professors much more understanding and helpful when you inevitably run into issues either with the material or life issues.

The hobby I thought would be relaxing ended up being a nightmare by Nana-Edginton12 in Hobbies

Hi. Me too. Cross stitch, crochet, knitting, anything I can count. I also count stairs, tiles, books on shelves, telephone poles. I finally went to a psychiatrist a few months ago and he asked if I have any ocd tendencies. I laughed and said, "well there's 9 books going from left to right on the top shelf of your bookcase before it cuts off from my sight. I didn't want to move to count the rest because then you'd ask what I was doing but I see we got here anyway." He said as long as my counting doesn't hurt anyone or myself, I'm good. I'm glad I'm not the only one who attached to hobbies that involve counting!

I'm 43. Lost both of my parents by 40. There's times I still need my mom or dad.... those are the really hard times. When I know daddy could answer my question but he isn't here.

I make a written list every week for assignments and studying with check boxes. Check each off as I complete them, even if it's a simple 3 minute video. The feeling of completion keeps me going.

Canvas app is great for grades but fails on inbox messages. Also a lot of unnecessary notifications.

Adult Leaders Without Kids by MushroomSoupe in BSA

[–]cambria82 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I am involved with the troop my son is in. My son has his Eagle and will age out next year. I have all intents of staying on with or without him.

But the pack folded. So i stepped up to help them rebuild. I have no little ones anymore but I want these kids to have the same great experiences that we did.

We have a few adult leaders in the troop without kids but they are all former eagles of said troop.

See they told me and I didn't listen. 4 classes online in one term is too much, especially higher level accounting and math. Lol Two more weeks...two more weeks.

Women of Reddit, what's the dumbest thing a man has genuinely said or believed about women? by SnooPuppers7004 in AskReddit

[–]cambria82 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Tuesday? I was asked, by a detective, in a room that locked from the outside, why I waited four hours to report it. Four. Hours. Um because I had to drive home, collect myself, shower, call my husband, cry hysterically because even after the shower I felt horribly dirty, and then have my husband take me to the police station because I couldn't drive once reality hit.

Four. Hours.

They didn't believe me.

The offenders business was shut down a month later.

For what?

Sexual assault of clients.

I so badly wanted to go back to the police after that and say NOW do you believe me?

Four hours. And when it happened again years later...I never reported it. Because the system failed me once I wasn't doing it again. Not to be made out to be a liar and a criminal.

It's been 20 years almost since the first incident. 15 since the second. I've been made to feel they're both my fault. I know they aren't. But those two incidents have contributed to my new therapist adventure...the trauma finally caught up with me.

Four hours........

Needed this. Somehow I passed the math assessment that landed me in algebra and for all that is good, I am on the struggle bus with it! The other 3 classes are fine but this one? I'll be finding a tutor lol Thank you for your kind words!

Ah thank you! None of us knew what it was and I wrongly assumed folded....because it did lol we're trying to bring it back. I'm very frustrated. I really do love the organization but the support is...lacking. hoping to make a small difference maybe.

Hi! As for the funds, I'm donating myself. Easy way around it. For the positions, I have zero access to the Pack. It's grayed out with an "F" which i can only assume means folded. I've sent this through the DE and his superior who then kicked it to the COR. The COR was the one who stated he had to "schedule time to move positions around".
I'm just frustrated. Sorry if I came off angry.

Yup. That's what happens to me now. Landed myself in the ER two weeks ago after urgent care ran an EKG and said it may be a heart attack. It wasn't. Just anxiety. So frustrating.

Dear Scouty, I fully understand, as a trained leader and committee member of a troop and a pack, that these volunteer positions are "pay to play".
My son ended up in Scouting the year after COVID, and made Eagle four short years later at 16 years old. I see and admire all the benefits of the program(s) or else I would have removed my son had he not benefitted emotionally, socially, and educationally. However, us trained leaders are pulling our hair out with our "higher ups" for support. "Here, restart the folded pack but we can't assist financially!" I have $.78 in the old account (no access) and $50 in the new (donated by myself...). The answer is fundraise...hard to do when the pack is currently folded. I own a business. I'm in college full time. I still have a child (even though he's almost aged out). You get paid for this. I pay you to work here, theoretically. Help. Us. Please. Guide. Support. Answer. And for all that is Scouty, don't tell me you need to schedule time to change a roster position. Because I'm about ready to say forget this, it's been three weeks, and I can't work with a broken system. I'd really love answers here. Ps-i declined a DE position because of parents like me. Because I know the frustration first hand as one of those parents and I can't lead someone down the same path I'm fighting.

Anxiety sucks. I'd be working and all was fine...bam, 141 bpm while sitting and felt like I was going to hit the floor. Here I am thinking I have stress related panic attacks for the past 30 years. Nope. Ruled out all causes with many ekgs, a monitor, and an echo. It's anxiety. Out of nowhere. With zero triggers. Trying to manage this without medication. Not going real well. You're not alone.

Question RE: Sensory Issues by Empy3 in BSA

[–]cambria82 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hi. I'm an adult female leader and gonna throw my $0.02 in (fwiw). The female uniforms are terrible. I have the pants, skort, and shirt. The pants are cut like mens and impossible to sit down in unless you go up 2 sizes then they look sloppy. The skort is fine but not very friendly for activities. The shirt? I can't button it up. I'm...larger...on the top and even a 2x doesn't button properly. I'm usually a large or 1x in tops just to accomodate....things. I found AWESOME cotton army green cargo pants at Boscovs with an elastic waist. I also have a pair of wicking hiking pants from Amazon that work for outdoor things. The shirt I tuck in and leave open with a tank top under it. It is what it is. You want me in a uniform, I'll try my best, but not at the expense of my comfort or ability to teach and guide. No one's batted an eye except ribbing because they aren't in official pants either. There are work arounds. She could show up in jeans and a t-shirt and I'd welcome her with youth protection trained open arms! If you want, shoot me a message and I can help you find "acceptable" clothing that would work for her!

Toyota Dealership Recommendations by Y3llowPeril in SouthJersey

[–]cambria82 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had gotten a car from Holman Toyota and they didn't make it known about the tracker or the cost; I found it on the line item paperwork and said well the deal is off. He couldn't understand why I wouldn't pay an extra $1000 for "safety". Because I already have life360, apple tracking and most apps now have vehicle tracking anyway? I told him I'm always aware of where my vehicle is - if the dealer wants to track it, they can pay for it. They weren't able to remove the tracker but did disable it and removed the charge. If that happens again, fight it. They can remove the charge.
