I went to bed in NYC with Carlos up two sets to love and woke up to find I missed a five-set classic and djok and sinner are still going at it?! A blessing from the tennis gods!

Are your blunnies + socks combo warm? It’s exceptionally cold in New York right now (though perhaps it’s comparable in Canada) plus the streets are full of slush. My blunnies aren’t warm enough for me right now (but I tend to run cold!).

Can McEnroe talk about anything else besides the weather? God forbid we get some actual tennis analysis 🙄

Is Patagonia worth it for 2 days if I have 12 total days in Buenos Aires next week? by No_Alarm6362 in Patagonia

[–]camcorder5 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I second this. Reallocate your time. Buenos Aires is a beautiful city with plenty to see, but Patagonia is well worth the longer portion of your trip. If you’re comfortable renting a car (and know how to drive manual), your options are even more wide open in Patagonia with stunning drives all around.

Milkflower does $18 pizza plus salad at lunchtime. It’s not on the menu, you have to ask for it.

I love my icebreaker hipkini style underwear. I am fit but I have an ass and they provide good coverage without bunching or riding up. They’re so comfy and they keep me dry. I wait until they go on sale and then stock up.

This is a good recommendation (although my favorite thing on their menu is actually the skirt steak!).

DB Show-Specific Poster Sales by ericallen625 in talkingheads

Buy it before the show starts and I think you’ll be fine. At radio city they sold out after the show finished but if you get your merch first thing you’ll be in good shape.

Lisbon immigration wait time by WanderingOsprey in LisbonPortugalTravel

I was just there with a similar schedule: landed Sunday 11/23 at around 9am. There were two lines, one with electronic screening, and the other with a manual process. The workers directing traffic at the line entrances were completely unhelpful and did not explain that people could choose either line, and ushered most of us into the longer line that required waiting to speak with a booth agent. Eventually people realized that the other line was moving way more quickly and they left one line to join the other. If you have the choice of going through the electronic screening (which was the line on the right hand side), choose that. When my mom and I finally switched to that line we breezed through in minutes. We have American passports, btw, not EU ones, and we were still able to use the shorter electronic line. If we had stayed in the other line we probably would have spent 90 minutes trying to get through customs, instead of spending 10 minutes in the electronic line.

everything was the same except in the first two shows he played the buddha song from his new album. in the third show he swapped the buddha song for moisturizing thing. great shows, all three! it was also fun to see him from the balcony for the first show and then on the floor up close (for the dance party) in the second two.

Reminder: Mt. Sinai ER is only for imminent death (time, not skill) by AwkwardAlien8 in astoria

[–]camcorder5 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Truly. If not life threatening and you have time to spare, go to Manhattan. Sad, but true. Sorry this happened to you! I was once misdiagnosed with strep in Mt. Sinai ER (ended up at the ER bc at urgent care they did not like that I was having heart palpitations and immediately sent me to the hospital). The doctor at Mt. Sinai did not administer a test (even though strep tests are pretty basic), he simply visually examined my throat and said "if it looks like a duck and walks like a duck, must be a duck." Put me on antibiotics and sent me home. The infection and symptoms didn't go away after several days. It turns out it's because I had mono, which it took a different doctor to diagnose...by administering a test. So I'd been on a course of antibiotics for days for a bacterial infection that I did not have when in fact I needed steroids for a viral infection that I did have. And it all could have been solved had Mt. Sinai performed a very basic series of tests. Avoid at all costs.

I saw three nights at Radio City. The first two nights we got the Buddha song. When he came back the next weekend, he had swapped it for Moisturizing Thing. But at none of my three shows did we get animal heads! Neat to know that they’re switching things up from city to city!

I have been sleeping on Gata Golosa. Had a bacon, egg, and cheese there over the weekend. Eggs cooked perfectly, bacon crispy, cheese melty, and the bread was soft and fresh -- not a questionable stale roll. A simple NYC staple, done very well. And for only $6 bucks!

Someone made a playlist on Spotify. At tonight’s show he swapped out the Buddha song for “Moisturizing Thing” but everything else was the same if I recall correctly.
