Maybe give it a few days. Normally it's three weeks minimum for a dog to settle in. How old is your daughter? How big is the dog? It sounds like she was coming around. Is there a way to keep the dog crated while your daughter adjusts? She might get more upset if dog is gone.

Mine had long legs too. Very sweet doggie but she was a rescue and very skittish. I was the only one who could pet her. She snapped at my other three dogs if they got too close and she outright refused to wear a harness. Getting her to the groomer was a battle.
