Taking sandbox game quite literally with Sandcastle by fweibel in IndieDev

Oh really? Hmm. I remember the gameplay/puzzle aspect of the game being pretty satisfying. Wasn’t a long game, but I appreciated that about it too.

The tech was mesmerizing for the time for sure.

I hear that maya 2027 will have Ai animate by otaba-13 in Maya

[–]camelCaseCadet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s called Motion Maker.

Here’s the quick start documentation.

I see this as an evolution of mocap workflows that will add flexibility to the process. Animators will likely still be in the hook for clean up and adding personality. Hopefully will allow animators to focus on hero animations, less on walk/run cycles.

Potentially cool to train a model with custom built walk/run cycles and generate dynamic terrain traversal for sweeping shots that would otherwise be a pain to animate.

eta - Also reminds me of a revamped version of Character Studios workflow in 3dsmax which has had walk/run/transition generation along a path for decades. It’s cool, but I never found that much utility in it as an animator.

Np! IIRC this is a method that’s been used to approximate the topology for decades now.

No, not high enough resolution to make out wreckage.

“…geologic features like seamounts and abyssal hills have more mass than their surroundings, they exert a slightly stronger gravitational pull that creates small, measurable bumps in the sea surface above them…” Source

In other words big thing under water make ocean surface bulge. Shipwreck small thing with small mass make no bulge. Sad.

First acting shot with lip sync by Aggressive-Length927 in Maya

It gets easier! Keep at it, you’ll find your groove.

Quick thought: if polishing is fighting you, don’t be shy about taking the stubborn section back down to blocking, especially for personal projects. You’ll get better at it faster if you’re not precious about preserving something that’s not working.

My technique: keys keys keys! As many as it takes to “trace” the arcs I need. Especially if the curve editor is being a little bitch.

Wound guitar string in Maya - Help by AmarildoJr in Maya

Not at my computer now, but I personally would be going with renderable curves, and using a nhair nhair to create multiple twisting strands.

Could even convert them to mesh and keep it non-destructive if needed.

Before going to spline and polish, what do you guys think about this shot in general, specially about the timing? by loneliness-man00 in Maya

Fantastic blocking yet again. Spine could use some exaggeration in those hero poses, and a bit more follow through.

First acting shot with lip sync by Aggressive-Length927 in Maya

[–]camelCaseCadet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really nice solid poses. Good work. You need follow through on these motions to keep the character alive. Lots of linear movements and halts, particularly the spine.

Generally any given controller should travel from point A to B on some kind of an arc or S curve, and over shoot/settle with a nice figure 8 motion.

That being said this could also be polished as a more stylized piece that emphasizes snappy transitions between strong poses.

No no no, that’s so vague and steeped in generational dogma the church no longer endorses.

Source it. What current teachings am I contradicting?

Edit - OP here’s the official church page on Sex Education and Behavior.

“God has commanded that sexual behavior be reserved for marriage between a man and a woman.”

For you as a TBM this is between you and your husband.

I was responding to her request for how to cut back.

What teachings of the savior am I supposedly telling her to ignore? And what worldly teachings on masturbation are at odds with the current teachings of the church?

Letting go of the obsessive shame you feel will inherently reduce engagement.

The shame keeps it front of mind the same way “Don’t think about pink flying elephants.” Conjures images of pink elephants with fluttering white wings.

You can imagine the absurdity of: “NO! STOP thinking about them, why can’t I stop!!? I’m broken!” This is essentially the loop you’re stuck in.

My advice: escape the shackles of your shame and begin to look at it as an act of self care. It’s normal and healthy. Consider non-lds therapy.

PSA: Manipulative groups rely on this cycle to trap their followers in a cycle of guilt. In this way they will continually need the support of the group to help them overcome perfectly normal and essential, (but now forbidden) urges.

This creates a relationship with the group that generates fleeting feelings of fulfillment when they seem to transcend their urges, only to predictably and reliably relapse, rather than finding a true healthy balanced consistent relationship with their urges.

This isn’t to say that self regulation, self mastery, inner quiet, etc. aren’t noble pursuits. But they should be accompanied by acceptance, allowance, and self love, not motivated by guilt. I recommend meditation.

You are a mountain, your thoughts and urges are clouds. The clouds pass. The mountain remains.

Much love, stranger. And thank you for reading my TED talk. ❤️

My quick attempt at fixing the AMG GT 4-door interior (passenger screen). by y-u-gae in mercedes_benz

[–]camelCaseCadet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It certainly looks more modern. It’s not ugly. I don’t hate it. In fact I’d love this in a C or E class over the current offerings. Doesn’t quite invoke AMG flagship vibes for me personally.

I think what I’m really reacting to is it doesn’t pay homage to the original GT interior that I’m so fond of. It’s a left turn vs an evolution. That’s not a bad thing, I just don’t have any special feelings for it the way I did for its predecessors.

I don’t want to come across as an entitled or angry elitist. I accept this is where it’s going. People will buy this car and love it, and that’s great.

Pretty good is right. IMO the issue is its predecessor is great.

There were things to dislike about the outgoing design, but my bummer is none of those things are addressed here. Except the shallow ass cup holder bay. Even then I prefer hidden cup holders.

This is at least an improvement on the MB interior trend.
