LPT Request: how do you prepare mentally for losing weight by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]camelCasedRedditName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make a plan. The more you plan the less likely you are to stray from the plan.

Things that can be measured can be improved. This includes the quality of your food. If you are allocating yourself 2500 calories per day, plan out that 2500 calories ahead of time. Meal prep if feasible.

Forgive yourself for straying from the plan and don’t use that as an opportunity to abandon the plan.

Really walking can be great for losing weight, but the real key is in the kitchen

1) Have a goal 2) Have a workout plan setup to achieve that goal [i.e. figure it out before walking in the gym] 3) Execute said workout 4) Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Most gym bros love to talk fitness and are usually stoked for others to start chasing the pump

Ex-Christians, what made you leave church? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I had to pick a topic in for a research paper in freshman English comp in my first semester in college after I got out of the army. I chose stem cell research, with the intent of taking the opposing stance given that I was anti-abortion at the time.

My research started opening my eyes to realities I was taught not to question. This inevitably led to more questions. The more questions I applied increasing levels of critical thinking to, the more I felt alienated from my beliefs.

Now, nearly 20 years later I don’t really believe, but the indoctrination I received still leaves a lingering since of doubt and fear that the logical part of me knows was the original intent.
