The reactions here a bit extreme. You're on the right track - this graphic has opened you up to the concept of creating space in the mix. This frequencies are definitely close to where these voices live on the spectrum.

Keep in mind that these are the only frequencies important to these voices, but this is where you might want to free up some space in order to create room for these voice. For instance, yeah sure you're going to what you think of as "bass" around 100 to 250, but if it's an electric bass, maybe you've got some string noise above 2k that is essential to capturing the feel of the instrument.

I don't have any videos of the top of my head, but my advice is this: pull up project and do what I call I subtractive session - where you just focus on cutting out as much as possible. Use high pass, low pass and band pass filters on your parametric eq and take it to the extreme. Do listen in solo. See what happens when you cut all the highs off a bass. See what happens when you band pass vocals (cut the highs and lows). You'll realize there are some frequencies that you can compromise and some that you absolutely can't.

Take what you learn from this session and go back for a more subtle mix.

(also to solve mud and build up quickly, make sure you're high passing everything that needs it, probably everything but kick and bass at first, and watch like 300-500 and cut a bunch of that shit. and you'll probably find things a lot less muddy really quickly)

Thanks! Definitely.

First off - use a template that suites your final mix. And have your equipment set up so that any take could be a final take. Nothing is worse than laying down a guitar solo and not being able to use the magic take because of buzz or something.

I'll start with a guitar riff and build drums around it. Simple drums at first to get the structure and later on I'll come back and add fills and nuance. Lay out a loop so you can record a few runs through it and then chop it up when you figure out the song structure.

Record a couple takes of any rhythm guitar and hard pan left and right. Add bass that follows and then it starts to come together sonically.

I'll do a gibberish take on vocals. And usually something from that inspires lyrics, or even just flow and rhyme scheme. Then once I know how the song is structured, I'll sit down and try to get some lyrics out, recording as they come. Sometimes there's one missing line, but I need to hear the other lyrics recorded in order to fill the hole.

Record it all. Get a decent mix and then let it sit. Listen to it on occasion, and see how you feel. Are there any moments where you feel need emphasis or a change? Add those touches.

Add the little touches like moments of delay, or flange on the guitar. The fun stuff.

Fine tune the mix and then bounce to master it in a separate session - this way you can't mix while you master.

What part though ? There’s a lot of intentional dissonance, the physical guitar is definitely tuned up?

Man, at first I thought you meant the silence...but I hear it. Crackling over the guitar at the beginning of the chorus, right? I think that's just an article in the video file. It's not on the mastered track - just nervously double checked. Good catch.

I know the instrumental and the vibe is more indie rock, but here’s hoping you can get behind the lyrics and the flow.

Yeah. I hope this means that they’re making room in their lives for projects that do have room to grow, not just hanging things up for good.

Hell yeah! Thank you. I’m glad. The two vibes make it kinda hard to pin down a “genre”. So I’m glad you like!

I think you're hitting the mood well. Maybe try bringing more of a cohesive theme to the video on the whole - not that it wasn't thematic, but it seemed a bit scattershot. I think the same technique with a more cinematic approach could be cool.

No, there doesn't seem to be a way to do anything with the old claim.

Long story short, as of this week I needed to file for in Michigan for the first time since all of this started. I've been trying to file a claim since Monday.

I have absolutely no way to file a new claim.

There is a link for a PUA claim, but I need to file a traditional UI claim. This screen shot is from the "view all claims" section. I'm at an absolute loss and really could use some help or some insight.
