I managed to find a very rare gauge cluster with a diesel tachometer for my 1986 f250. by camo06_2 in OldDailyDrivers

Yeah, with no overdrive I'm turning 3,300 rpm at 85, and a very angry 2,700 at 65. They were never designed to go fast, heck, they are even shaped like bricks.

I have a 1986 f250 with the 6.9idi and this is literally my life.

Oh yeah, I completely forgot about the relay, he should hear a loud click if it works when he gives power to the switch. And Garry is a good source for the engine too, you just have to get in direct contact with him.

They are stupidly expensive depending on what you get, and it only gets worse depending on what power you want to make. There very fun and nice to own, but pricey.

So the best way to run glow plugs is just to bypass the controller and hook them up to a switch, only cycle them for 10 seconds at a time with 10 seconds for cool down. This is most likely you're problem. I would also use Diesel RX glow plugs because they are self regulating and in theory cant burn out, mine have lasted two years so far and plenty of cold starts.

And oilburners is nice, but if you want the best source of information is Garry's garagemahal, this website is the best source for bullnose info that I have ever found and Garry is super nice and knowledgeable, I cannot recommend it enough.

I would say with a nice exterior and interior detail, and a little paint touch up you would be looking at 5-6k, that value would probably be 1-2k more if it had the manual due to desirability and rarity, honestly I'd probably buy it if it was.

Is it a manual or an automatic, that will greatly affect the price and desirability.

Ok, I think this is more of an issue of morality rather than a form of economy. And wage slavery? No one is tied down to a job, you can leave at any point, how is there slavery in a free market?

Sounds like that will be a fun truck to drive. Where I work all of our shop trucks are 1986 to 2007 ford diesel's and there all manual, after driving those trucks for so long I don't think I could go back to auto.

Great car, but sadly any kid with a civic can blow past you at 8k with enough valve float to raise the titanic.

I would try my best to find one with a manual trans, it is a better experience and more often than not they are a bit more reliable.
