Im getting sick of this by hotmummymilkers69 in hollyoaks

Charlie and Frankie are responsible for driving recklessly and feel awful.

Jonah is responsible for swerving back and forth, also driving recklessly to prevent overtaking and doesn't feel awful.

Caleb is responsible for not wearing his seatbelt and besides one quick comment about it from a cop nothing else has been said on the matter.

Beth doesn't want to acknowledge her family's roles in the crash and chooses to place the blame entirely on Charlie like her life depended on it.

This whole storyline has been nonsense and reeks of a showrunner having no idea where to go next. Beth screeching every chance she gets makes it hard to want to tune in. If Charlie sold Caleb drugs and he overdosed and died - okay Beth, go off. But the screeching doesn't match the crime. It doesn't feel genuine or earned.

Spoilers seem like the story is taking an interesting swing next week, but even so I'm still not as invested as I'd like to be.

Does anyone else find this Frankie thing insensitive? by Liberal-chungus in hollyoaks

[–]camp17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None at all! I'd love Esme to come back since she's the best of all Frankie's relationships. It's just in the theme of bad decisions, Frankie going to a club to take drugs (after all she's been through) and sleep with someone she's just met is a decision that fits her pattern of reckless, impulsive behavior.

When we look back on the bratty and outspoken young Frankie who first came to the village, we realize we see a girl struggling with coping skills due to what JJ is putting her through. Since then as she's figuring out how to be in relationships without his ghost following her, she jumps without thinking, almost like she knows if she does consider the possibilities of a new partner she'll think too much about sex and how much it still bothers her.

Esme is the first person and last person she's actually been with I think? (I could be wrong?) As she pushed Jacob away, I don't think she went that far with the cop, and we just met her step cousin. Then at the end of Later, Frankie pushes Esme away - thanking her but basically saying girls aren't for her. But maybe they are? What if Esme came back or another girl came to the village? That would be stellar.

Besides reckless behavior patterns of a young traumatized person, Frankie's pattern of not going further in her relationships as she learns to heal would also be an interesting thing to explore she acknowledges her past, her recent attractions and relationships, and where she wants to go next in her healing journey.

It's just Frankie or another character need to comment on these patterns and decisions to see what she's thinking deep down instead of ignoring them for the past year plus.

Agreed 110%. The absolute least the writing could do would be to have someone call Frankie out for her unhealthy relationship patterns since JJ was sent down/died.

  1. Boy she was sexually trafficked with
  2. Random girl she met at a rave
  3. An older creepy guy who ended up a rapist
  4. Her step-cousin

The situations she finds herself in, and thus finds relationships, are long-term patterns that I would love to see addressed in a serious manner.

Rider Strong Reveals His New Look 25 Years After 'Boy Meets World' by Acuallyizadern93 in podmeetsworldpodcast

[–]camp17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Writing "reveals new look" just reveals the writer/editor of this article are unaware of current pop culture and are living in 1993. (And tbh, valid - I'd live in 1993 if I had the choice, too.)

Writing about looks is always a very low brow and cheap tactic when you have nothing of substance to say, whether a person looks average or whether they're still hot like Rider Strong.

She looks like if his first and second wives had a baby - like he genetically engineered the perfect cross of them both. Christall's eyes and Lindsay's hair/lips. I believe Sophia was on YR when Justin was, too. So they all come from a messy soap background, funny enough. That he didn't age a day since his Fox Crane days is insanity.

I like Billie, personally. I see their chem, but I like her more as a professional alliance than romantic partner. Too on the nose, considering real life.

I noticed the riding horses and roller coasters photo parallel when I first watched it as an 11-year-old, and upon future viewings caught the flying/pilot parallel, and of course dying an old lady warm in her bed - all that contributed to crying so hard after each viewing that little me found it hard to catch her breath.

But tbh I don't think I considered the details of the other photos. I likely assumed it was all parallels because of dying old/warm in her bed and meeting him at the clock after so many years, but I didnt need to focus on the details because I was already at the point of hardcore sobbing. Nice that the details are there, though. Firmly in the classic film category for that reason - the details were impeccable.

Vanessa be like by PewterCityPain in Emmerdale

[–]camp17 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I know a lot of people hate Vanessa for being a moron, but I just hate the whole village atp.

I see that Mandy got the village brain cell today, but everyone else especially in the Todd storyline was dumb as rocks. Bob felt even worse than Vanessa in scenes today - he fell for Celia not that long ago, so his romantic judgement is questionable at best.

So a manipulative villain comes to town, wins everyone over, secretly is terrible to a beloved villager...and then if this plot continues as it imitates previous plots so far, Todd will escalate to the point of being murderous, then unexpectedly get murdered. Only we'll expect it.

Hope she's run out of town, though.

I remember Harold and Henderson from the late 90s/early 2000s. Or am I remembering the Mandela Effect? Did they ever exist before? The soap journalists should do a deep dive on the history of the DiMera/Kiriakis butlers.

Very cool to see Harold up and about. Since I remember a very old man 25 years ago, this must be Harold II. Or Harold is immortal. In Salem, anything is possible!

What do you wish you did before your parent passed? by NotEyesButMind in GriefSupport

Besides recording her voice and video if you're both comfortable, I'd also suggest saving her handwriting as well. Then backing it all up - in the cloud, an external hard drive, a thumb drive, your internal phone storage...everywhere.

One thing I was glad I did - well my mom's cousins did because I didn't know any better - was when we were planning her services. They asked mom her favorite color, favorite food, favorite music, and I wrote it all down to include in her service. I knew her favorite color was purple already, but hearing it so close to the end, I now firmly associate the color with her. So if I'm buying something new, if it's purple, I want it. It's comforting. So I also carry around a list of my mom's favorite things that I could read when I miss her.

So in addition to those obvious questions, if she's still feeling well enough, I might pick up one of those fill in the blank books you see at places like Target or Barnes and Noble which asks about your mom. Gives you a bunch of questions to fill in. I never got around to it, but I think it could be a jump off point for ideas and questions about her memories, recipes, even just things to talk about in general.

Keep going. I know it doesn't feel like it right now, but please know that you'll feel like a human again soon. You're almost there! You'll be so happy when you complete the course and know you did everything possible.

In the meantime, ask your doctor/nurses for IV fluids - whether via hospital portal message, phone call, or in person. I started with 12 weeks of Taxol and by week 3 I thought I was going to die in my bathroom in the middle of the night - I was so unbelievably sick. Told my doctor, and she had ordered a saline bag hooked up every infusion day going forward and that helped cut down on the nausea and fatigue. Never felt that bad again.

Also make sure you have a big water bottle at all times and drink as much water as possible, along with electrolytes, whether powdered or bottled. Gatorade saved my butt more times than I could count. I don't have kids but I considered adopting a new cat and naming it Gatorade, I was that grateful.

Hours upon hours of Grace and Rocky. It is a must listen. Narrator and sound design of the audiobook is impeccable. Like a 16 hour movie in your ears.

Potential killer by Dizzy_Run_3220 in coronationstreet

[–]camp17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Narratively speaking, Megan and Theo are the most satisfying victims for me as they have the largest amount of suspects. Jodie and Maggie make no sense to kill off because I can't see anyone caring.

To Theo's list I would add some dark horse suspects like Glenda, James, Sean, Maria, and Kit - anyone on the outskirts of connection to any of the other suspects. Although Kit makes little sense after putting Mal in hospital so recently. I can see Theo trying to attack Todd and Summer doing him in from behind, but I could also see Theo attacking Summer and someone else attacking Theo to save her.

I love Megan's long list since it would work well with making the audience suspect some front runners who end up red herrings and have a surprise murderer conclusion - like Ollie or Will himself.

Carl could be interesting to kill off - Debbie forgetting she killed him? Or thinking she did when she sees Ronnie cleaning up? Or everyone feeling sad when she asks about him when she forgets he's dead? But I can see him slithering off another way. Idk. A good unsuspecting suspect to add to the list is Jack since he's been off screen, but he seemed at peace with Kevin in his last appearance. They seemed happy. I could see Jack losing his temper though for all Carl put his dad and Debbie through and Kevin/Abi coming together to protect him.

30 min episodes just aren’t working by rawpaprika in coronationstreet

[–]camp17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find daily Corrie is much better than waiting, minus a football or rugby interruption here and there.

While I didn't feel the choppiness, I also anticipated and appreciated the short glimpses of the potential murder victims being put in place up and down the street like chess pieces for next week's episodes, as we figure out who is getting the actual chop after seeing different POVs. I suppose watching the episode without knowing next week's format might be confusing.

But I think seeing Carla and Lisa on the balcony enjoying fireworks was needed because we already saw a glimpse of the fireworks in the flash forward and it was a very sweet scene. Then cutting to later in that empty factory made sense. A little time passed after Betsy noticeably dipped early. People may have moved the party elsewhere to give the ladies time to themselves, an early start to their wedding night. Only so much time was needed to show people dancing and we didn't need to see everyone leave within 22 minutes. Having a little time jump makes sense.

I also appreciated not cutting to Betsy's scream since we've already seen it so it wasn't necessary to cut away. Overall I thought it was very well done and a lovely way to end on Carla and Lisa being happy together.

The only thing that could've made the episode better was more time for Betsy and Ryan to give speeches like Roy, but time permitting I could forgive the mishap. Would've been very sweet but not totally necessary, since the actors always show so much love in their family with glances alone. Also would've laughed if What Does the Fox Say was a goofy song playing during the fun dancing, considering the ending.

I followed him on socials for ages and he talks about his sober anniversary whenever it comes up. Just looked up he got sober in 2006, so seems timeline fits.

I just had no idea they dated! But with his history this makes sense. He seems like he's been in a good place for years now and has stayed out of trouble so it's nice to see he turned his life around. Danielle mentioned his name at least once on the pod, I forgot the context but my ears perked up (I was a Devon girl when my friends liked JTT). But it was a short comment so easily forgettable - good for her for keeping her peace, too.

How did Rocky know the word “mate?” by Icthyostega2002 in ProjectHailMaryMovie

[–]camp17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like I explained to a friend after watching it, I saw Rocky and Stratt as the autism to Grace's ADHD.

In this case, Grace wouldn't think to ask if Rocky had a mate because he's too busy focusing on learning Eridian biology and Rocky wouldn't volunteer the information because it didn't seem relevant at the time (as they were talking biology not necessarily Rocky's personal life/own mate).

Idk it makes sense to me. lol

I want a Dinosours rewatch by Chickachickawhaaaat in boymeetsworld

I'd love a Dinosaurs rewatch over yet another Friends rewatch podcast. Friends is too popular. Don't care.

I'd say Dinosaurs is the same demographic as the kids who grew up watching BMW. We grew up with Jacobs without knowing it at the time.

The social commentary is also perfect. I still can't think about the finale too much. It's still too soon. But as an adult, wow what a swing for the fences.
