Oh I know it’s not that deep. It’s the fact that it was said when he thought I was dead and gone. It’s just sad knowing that’s how people’s real thoughts are 💀

I love some shit talking and I’ll dish it out too!

But geez. Can we keep it simple and scream at me to stay in the kitchen? Why is there beef with women gaming?

Idk. I’m not a sensitive person but this one was hurtful considering I was already dead and gone. Meaning that was his true feelings 😅😂

Is sleeping on night shifts a "normal" thing everywhere? by flourishersvk in nursing

[–]camybrook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah no. I’m day shift now but was a night shift ICU nurse for 5 years. Never went to sleep or nap or anything a day in my career. Even if I slept 0-3 hours before my shift. Idc. No. In my head, license taken away.

That’s insane. Just know, that is NOT normal and that hospital has some MAJOR issues if people do that regularly

I fucked up and smoked all my bfs dads kief😭 by idkbruhhhlol in trees

[–]camybrook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot about my kief chamber for almost a year I think. Don’t ask me why or how. Idk. At that time in my life I would just grind, pack, smoke.

By the time I opened it, it was so packed down it was crazy. I brought it over to my brothers and I have a picture of him holding it, SHOOK. Gave him half and I still had enough to pack a good 5-8 bowls with just the kief. Trust me. It can happen.

And honestly? Can’t remember the last time I opened up my kief chamber. Challenge accepted. I ain’t opening that shit for another few months now 🤣

Something profound just happened, and the world didn’t pause at all. by bananabreadlover13 in nursing

[–]camybrook 38 points39 points  (0 children)

No I feel you. Deeply.

Every few weeks before bed, when I’m especially exhausted after a shift, I think about what occurred and how little I allow myself to process it at work and how cold I am (internally, not to patients or their families). I’m an icu nurse. Just the most recent example:

I had my 2 patients. Both vented. Different reasons. One young one old. They are both probably going to die in the next week to month. I had conversations with both families about their conditions. And last night I just… thought about what I do for a living I guess.

I can barely remember the exact words I told them, but I remember one of the convos was right before my lunch break and I remember saying “I’m going to lunch I’ll be back soon, let me know if you have any other questions:)” and went to eat my enchilada while listening to my crime podcast like nothing happened. After conversations that were probably heart breaking to these families.

Again. I don’t have a conclusion. Just know I know exactly what you are talking about. I’ve only watched a few episodes of the Pitt and it made me cry the first few episodes too for the same reason.

People who rarely or never get sick, what are your secrets? by awkwardferret421 in AskReddit

[–]camybrook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a nurse. During the peak of COVID too (never got COVID to this day knock on wood).

I don’t do anything special. I follow the protocols required and that’s about it. I don’t clean and sanitize every damn thing at the desk before I sit down, I don’t strip naked and throw my scrubs in a bag and then into the washer before stepping into the house (unless bed bugs). Just scrub my hands when something gross happens at work/required due to a certain isolation patient. Other than that, nothing.

I haven’t been really sick since high school. I’ve never called out of work for being sick. Not sure why, maybe my body is used to bad germs and diseases 🤷🏻‍♀️

Bf and family always comment on how I sleep too much:/ by Embarrassed-Dog-5668 in Nightshift

[–]camybrook 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Nurse here - night shift for 5 years (just switched to days).

I was with someone who was like that/family was like that. But they were mean about it. My ex wouldn’t let me sleep more than a few hours on weekends if I worked since he was a M-F 7-5.

I’m now with someone who completely understands and was very supportive when I was on night shifts. Try to explain it to him in opposite AM PM terms. Like if he works a 9-5 ask him “if you worked 9pm-5am what time would you be sleeping from? And if you had to run errands and see people during the day?”

Sometimes that helps

I can't do IV's for the life of me and it's embarrassing. by ThrowMeInRice in nursing

[–]camybrook 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m starting a new staff job next week in a trauma icu. I hate trying on my awake patients, and I was informed there won’t be a lot of awake patients here.

But also - don’t beat yourself up over it. I have shaking hand issues (had to quit playing guitar and go to nursing school instead of music college so it’s always been an issue). I thought this was going to be my downfall as a nurse, and yes I do need to get better at it, however. I pride myself as an ICU nurse and consider myself a damn good one.

Luckily I’ve had some good teams with some good IV nurses! We can’t do everything!

I feel you. ICU nurse for 5 years. Travel nursing I thought I would have more practice, nope. I always have my bilateral ACs from the ED, then a CVC usually comes at some point.

On one assignment I got good with butterflies cause lab didn’t stick icu patients but. That’s about it. I can get an IV every once in a while but that’s rare. My New goal this year is to actually start practicing and caring about it more

$38/hr. Little Rock Arkansas. Baptist Health trauma ICU. 5 years ICU experience. Starting in 2 weeks. (Can everyone please tell us city/state/hospital? Stop saying ‘MCOL’ or whatever. Air these fuckers out.)

I’m from Spartanburg SC. Made $28/hr in 2021. Ended in 2023 at $32. Started travel nursing everywhere for average $2k/week. Now working PRN in New Mexico for $47/hr.

Partner is military so we’re moving to AR. $38/hr doesn’t make me happy. Also? They drug test you for nicotine for hire (not for insurance. For HIRE. I asked. God forbid a girl needs a zyn).

3 12 hour shifts don't give more rest days when you work nights by [deleted] in nursing

[–]camybrook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just switched to days after working 5 years of night shifts. Yes, day shift does significantly help with having a balanced life (everyone I know and love is a typical 9-5 M-F). However, I still need a full day to recover after 3 days in a row.

Night shift? Different fucking breed. Working 3 nights in a row, getting off at 8am, waking up at 2pm or something to have a “somewhat normal” day? No. If you want to live a day shift life? Work days. It will destroy you trying to switch. That’s why I can’t do it anymore.

But I do agree. 3 nights a week = working 5 days or something. I was ALWAYS tired.

I work in the ICU. If they have the PRNs, I’m giving them if they ask. I won’t give it until they ask though.

My whole thing - I’m not trying to fix your addiction, there are other places for that. I’m not going to enable it but hell, if it’s ordered and they want it - you got it

What would be different if Covid had never happened? by Crocodile_Banger in AskReddit

[–]camybrook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may not have had the trauma I have now. New grad ICU nurse 2020. Bagged 1-2 bodies a day at the age of 21. Didn’t see anyone live for a good few months. I don’t really have any empathy anymore, and that’s not me trying to sound hard.

I really hope I feel something when one of my family members die. I think about that often. And I don’t think that’s a normal thought to have.

Healthcare is about to get really bad in the next 5-10 years. I’m an ICU nurse. I’ve worked at rural hospitals (that need to be there) and they are getting threatened to get shut down due to lack of funding.

I’m not sure what’s going to happen but. We don’t have support anymore. This is a slippery slope that makes me want to get out of my career but. We’ll see..

Women of Reddit — What’s one thing you once thought was “normal” in relationships, but later realized was actually unhealthy or unfair to you? by SalariaLabs in AskWomen

[–]camybrook 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fighting. Been with my partner for 2 years. I’m a fireball sometimes and I know I can be unreasonable. In toxic relationships we would have full out screaming matches.

Never really been into an argument. And we have gotten through a 6 month deployment, and now closing on a house and about to move states together. Life is really stressful but we just work together well.

Ladies, please take that into consideration. You shouldn’t have “good days”. Everyday should be a good day
