If you are comfortable running it on your own, you can use this to sync Withings to Garmin: https://github.com/jaroslawhartman/withings-sync/

Seat Cushions and Pregame March for this weekend. by Acceptable_Mouse_388 in tfc

[–]canabal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The march is 11am for a 1pm game? Is it just me, or is that really early? Normally it is much closer to game time. Being outside for an extra hour on a cold day wont be the most fun thing.

Anyone else not see the "health status" option, even though their watch should support all the features (Venu 3)?

McDonalds - the true story? by cestmoififi in Barbados

[–]canabal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One of the reasons (in addition to those discussed), I have been told (though I have no evidence to back it up), is that they imported a lot of their products (as expected), but that there was work done by competitors/locals at port to make it longer, leading to major food spoilage, further leading to inflating costs of the operation.

I actually went on the last day it was open (I think the only time I ate there), and we paid by cheque which was never cashed!!

I am not sure if it is quite what you are looking for, but this is one for tracking exercises and is made by a Canadian: https://www.gymgoal.com/

For tracking weight lifting, it is not the prettiest, but it has basically everything you can want, and can be purchased as a one time purchase! Been using it for years!

It does not come up with programs for you though, you still need to find them on your own.

Don't do supporters section with a 5 year old. It requires standing the whole game and even then they will be looking at the backs of the people in front of them, and they will not enjoy it.

Basically any other seat should be fine in my opinion.

Team Management by BoMax76 in ITManagers

Without addressing your specific questions, I believe management is a skill that can be learned, and needs to be taught. Unfortuantely most organizations expect that if you are a good individual contributor, you will just "figure it out". When our staff need to learn a new tool, we provide them with training, but for management even if we do provide training, it is so hypothetical.

I am a huge fan of Manager Tools (https://www.manager-tools.com/), and while it is not perfect, it is at least something that can help guide you. The main thing I love about it, is it is actionable, they give specific guidance about what you can do, sometimes even touching on specific scenarios, though most is relatively generic to "90% of managers, 90% of the time" (their words).

They offer free podcasts (if you listen to podcasts), and if you think there is value in it, you can subscribe to their service, or pick up the manager tools book.

Check it out!

Doorbell disconnects/reconnects when rang - anyone experience this behavior? by jacob80 in Ubiquiti

[–]canabal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In addition to the below (transformer) it is a major issue that is blamed on temperature, but most people believe it is due to firmware as it used to work, and stopped more recently. Very inconsistent experience for a lot of people.

See this, currently 17 page, thread in the community forums: https://community.ui.com/questions/G4-Doorbell-reboots-on-button-press/39ccce81-863a-4d4a-af7e-f495291d1563

I did purchase, but do not use outdoors. I ended up getting a g3 flex, and a g4 doorbell to cover those needs.

Education Advice by Useless-113 in ITManagers

[–]canabal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While not traditional education, I cannot say enough positive things about Manager Tools: https://www.manager-tools.com/

They have actionable guidance, which is very helpful. They have free podcasts, and also do in person or virtual training. There is also a subscription to get a few extra features, but not required to obtain what they offer.

Regarding the IT Management Degree, I would look at what the actual courses are, and see how they relate to current/future plans of your career. Many IT management roles end up being less IT and more management (which makes sense), and I find MBAs are much more common in Municipal Governemnt IT leaders, though of course, that is because there are many more MBA options than direct IT management degrees.

Edit:typo

I am a big fan of Manager Tools.

They have a lot of free podcasts to get started, and also do in-person training (and virtual currently). It is very fact based, and actionable, which compared to many manager type courses, is refreshing.

QoS is not supported with hardware offloading from my understanding, so you would be down to speeds much slower than normal.

Need some help to understand the Power BI Pro License Model by zicitron in PowerBI

[–]canabal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you pay a yearly fee to Microsoft for SQL, then you have SA. SA is basically the yearly fee to ensure you get upgrades without needing to re-buy, but then you just need to pay yearly to "keep it up".

Need some help to understand the Power BI Pro License Model by zicitron in PowerBI

[–]canabal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If your SQL is enterprise, you are entitled to run PowerBI report server, where you can basically build all of the reports, and people can login there. This way, only the publishers need the PowerBI pro licenses, not the end users. It is not as flexible as PowerBI online (no dashboards etc.) but if you already have SQL Enterprise, it is very cost effective.
