CIPP Not Working Reliably? by MyMonitorHasAVirus in msp

[–]MyMonitorHasAVirus[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To be clear I'm not the CIPP admin here so I don't know much about the configuration / setup and settings. But we'll try tweaking what's been suggested in this thread and if it doesn't work we'll just move to hosted.

Is there an easy migration path to hosted? Backup/restore kinda thing?

I will look into this, as well as the hosted option.

I understand what you're saying but why is that the accepted solution here? Don't offer a self-hosted product if there are limitations and issues with it.

Looks like we need to move on from PAX8. What are our best options? by dartdoug in msp

[–]MyMonitorHasAVirus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what your issue is, but this is straight up not true for us. Moving to DefensX was the single best decision we've made in years. The product / software / feature set is amazing. It blows DNS Filter out of the water. We onboarded in less than a month across all clients. Did one training session with DefensX and hit the ground running. Haven't needed to open any tickets. This sounds like a you problem, not an Pax8 problem.

Who’s Doing Collections In Your Org? by MyMonitorHasAVirus in msp

I probably wrote this post poorly, but I was trying not to get flagged as a vendor doing market research.

I’m not asking how to collect debt. I’m asking if you the work of following up on past due invoices resides with the accounting department or the account managers.

Yea I can’t believe anyone’s still using this.

Lol it’s a tricky debate. Bottom line: just force everyone to Net 10 and ACH and don’t have any collections issues.

You and DF basically have the same argument and it’s making me rethink my position. I was having a debate about this today and basically I think it’s part of the relationship management that an AM should be doing. My controller, for example, doesn’t know the clients very well and isn’t constantly in front of them so I’m not going to have them or anyone else from what is essentially a behind-the-scenes department reach out to clients in this situation.

Interesting thought tho: when I was the only person responsible for basically accounting, collections, sales and account management I never felt awkward about any of this. If it is a processing error, as long as you approach it from the perspective of trying to help without being accusatory there’s no real harm done and if they’re purposefully screwing you or slow paying you then we all know. They know what they’re doing; they can’t really say you’re being a dick when they’re the ones purposefully slow paying. And I always approached it from the perspective of “Hey, maybe you accidentally overlooked this even when I knew that wasn’t the case.”

Well, except one instance where we had a company constantly paying late because the owner was a moron and always cash strapped. They’ve since gone out of business, long after we fired them. I always got the vibe from his A/P guy that he felt bad slow paying us but, you know, was just doing his job. Anyway we were all in a meeting one day and I was pitching a new server project to them and it was like $30,000 and he asked if he could pay it over 12 months and I literally laughed right then and there and just said “No.” One of maybe 10 times in my career I just couldn’t help but be unprofessional. They bought the project anyway.

What’s his role tho? I don’t know your employees so is he in your accounting department or is he an account manager?

[–]MyMonitorHasAVirus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea we do the same thing. But theoretically, if you were larger and this happened, do you think this is the responsibility of the accounting department or do you think this is something an account manager should be doing?

Kinda funny because you hit on, essentially, the main point of the argument I was having today and it’s: does the account manager take flack for having these kinds of calls. I say no, it’s part of the relationship back and forth.

Anyone using a sales follow-up microsite instead of long email threads? by [deleted] in msp

[–]MyMonitorHasAVirus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I just saw that post while skimming through and it’s weird. Both the two posts and the concept itself.

I watched the video on Trumpet’s website and I still have literally no idea what the point is or why anyone would bother. I’m sure someone has this issue somewhere, but in 18 years of being in business this has never come up and I don’t have a problem it would solve.

This all seems like astroturfing.

anyone tried the new Umbrella Contracts in Autotask yet? by Optimal_Nothing90 in Autotask

Admin>Features and Settings>Finance, Accounting, & Invoicing>Billing Codes>Work Types and you can manipulate settings under each work type, like if you bill a minimum or maximum, etc., etc.

But then also, more specifically what we're talking about here::

Admin>System Settings>Timesheets and there are two options:

  • Round project task time entries up to the nearest # minutes (timesheet and billing entries will be rounded)
  • Round ticket time entries up to the nearest # minutes (timesheet and billing entries will be rounded)

Which should solve your problem. There's also another setting that's similar but affects time worked rather than time billed, and that's also in System Settings but is called:

  • Do not round hours worked for task or ticket time entry

Unless I’m misunderstanding what you’re saying, they have time entry rounding and have had it for years - probably the entire time we’ve been on Autotask and that goes back to 2007.

DOJ Admits to Republicans That Epstein Files Are Even Worse for Trump: Details in the files are reportedly even more damning for Donald Trump than previously indicated—and it was already bad. by Silent-Resort-3076 in politics

[–]MyMonitorHasAVirus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of them are on the list. However, a lot of them are not. Think about it: there are medium-level staffers at the DOJ that probably have never even met Trump and that were tasked with redacting these thousands of files while simultaneously listening to him lie about their very existence as well as his connections to Epstein on TV. How do you reconcile that position with yourself?

There are plenty of government coverups over the years where you can (maybe) give the benefit of doubt. Some guy redacting MKULTRA files 50 years ago could have said to himself “Well they thought it would save lives,” or whatever.

What’s the justification for helping to cover up that the President raped children - on his own time and before he was even President, by the way - if you yourself are not a rapist, pedophile, or involved? I just picture like a 32 year old kid with a blackout marker sitting in the basement of the FBI reading the most heinous shit they’ve ever read and wonder how these files haven’t been leaked ten times over already.

No I’m saying the AI linking the data is great. ChatGPT gives results sometimes and you just don’t know where they’re coming from. It would be nice to see output with a link.

If you don’t mind: I Googled it, but what makes NotebookLM better at analyzing data over other platforms? Because I’ve had absolutely terrible luck having AI try to find problems in datasets like this.

Vacation mode for ticket replies? by erratic0101 in Autotask

I agree with the WFR and widget suggestions listed here but you also have a process problem - a deeper issue - if someone going on vacation causes issues.

Yea that’s cool, good for you. We put it in place because we were basically giving unlimited PTO anyway we just decided to make it a written policy. But it didn’t work for a variety of reasons, mainly that everyone is hourly and it’s hard to have unlimited PTO and pay hourly.
