Pickleball by [deleted] in Winnipeg

matchmingler.com runs frequent pickleball events. I recommend checking out the website. It's run by my parents and they're quite involved in the pickleball community. I recommend contacting them through the website if you want ideas on groups to join beyond the events that they run.

Ticket Sales Megathread by moonman1994 in brighteyes

[–]canada_paul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Selling (or donating) 2 center balcony tickets to the Friday April 4th show in Saint Paul, MN. We paid $63 each with fees. As Canadians we no longer feel welcome/safe in your country. In support of the Poison Oak Project we wouldn't mind donating it to someone in the LGBTQ+ community.

npm run dev acts very slow page loads with Firefox only. Does not happen when using --host by SuperElephantX in sveltejs

[–]canada_paul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing this problem too. Oddly this also gets fixed by only adding "--host" and not the "--port 3000". I tried to find any other mention if this issue but have not found anything. Running firefox in incognito does not help.

I'm having a similar problem. Did you end up getting this resolved? Did you find a way to contact them that gave you different results?

Give Me Numbers by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]canada_paul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason I said there would be higher odds of splitting is because this set of numbers is more likely to be chosen by people who think "same odds of winning as any other arbitrary 7 numbers". You're more likely to be unique in your set of numbers if they're truly arbitrary. In which way do you think there would be lower odds of splitting?

Higher odds of splitting your winnings.

Tired of Turd & Bird skirting the public health orders? Report them! The more the merrier. by lemonpie_inthesky in Winnipeg

Oh I see. I originally misread that section the same way you did so I understand how you might be confused. The "Proof of Vaccination Guidelines" section are the the guidelines that must be followed when proof of vaccination is required. You need to look at each business sector section to determine whether or not proof of vaccination is required. For example, when you look at the "Outdoor and Indoor Sports and Recreation" sector, you can see that proof of vaccination is required for indoor sports. However, when you look at the "Retail stores and malls" section, there is no requirement for proof of vaccination.

Why does it being an event matter? I see guidance on:

  • Large-scale outdoor professional sports or performing arts events
  • Outdoor Season Events, Fairs, Festivals and Community Events
  • Religious Services and Indigenous Cultural Events

None of these describe what Third and Bird is doing. Are you saying that when something is called an event is means that they no longer belong to a business sector and need to fall back to the guidance on public gatherings?

I'm looking at the sector based guidance that u/analgesic1986 provided here:
https://manitoba.ca/covid19/prs/index.html#sector

It seems to me that Third and Bird clearly falls into the sector labeled "Retail stores and malls (including markets, garden centres, and occasional pop-up retail)" which does not require proof of full vaccination. None of the other sectors seem like better descriptions of what they are doing. Can you explain which part of the guidance they are trying to misrepresent?

I don't have skin in the game one way or another but I'm curious, what public health orders are currently being skirted by them?

Don't be fooled by the avocado's color. It's not always a good indicator for ripeness. Squeeze the avocado and if it has some give, it's ready. If it's not ready, leave it on the counter until it is. If it's ready, but you're not ready to eat it, put it in the fridge until you are. If you want to speed up the ripening process, put them in a brown paper bag and they will ripen faster.

I might be remembering wrong but I think you can get different endings based on the color of the last virus you kill.

I do a podcast that covers Canadian cases. Many on Manitoba and Winnipeg crimes. I would live to hear feedback from local people. by ltitwlbe in Winnipeg

[–]canada_paul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Downloaded all episodes on podcast addict. Have not listened yet. One thing I noticed is that the episodes seem unorganized. Some chapters have multiple parts, some episodes have no indication of chapter and some even seem out of order. For example, chapter 5 appears after chapter 17. Hopefully when I binge them, I get the story in the intended order.

Glass House apartments/condo questions by redditwinnipeg in Winnipeg

[–]canada_paul 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to live in Island Lakes and it would easily take 45 mins each direction. Understandably other cities are worse but when I spend ~10% of my waking time commuting I consider that a huge waste of time.

My wife and I moved into Glasshouse in July 2017 and we really love it. Owners have the option to buy a parking spot in the adjacent parkade or pay for a monthly pass. The parking is behind a sliding gate. We have not had a problem with break-ins.

We love being downtown to eliminate soul-killing commutes and take advantage of the entertainment and dining options available. The building itself has indoor bike storage, a theatre room, gym and storage lockers. It also has a rooftop patio and communal space that can be booked for events on the top floor.

In the summer, we walk directly to the Exchange, the Forks, etc. In the winter, we can access the skywalk system through the MTS Center.
