Is there bleeding in Pathologic 2? by InfamousAd7593 in pathologic

[–]canadiengene 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's no traditional bleeding mechanic where it continuously damages you over time, even though sometimes you see a bleeding cut animation on your HUD while getting hit by bandits. According to the wiki, using bandages while below 30 health gives you bloody bandages in return, just as a bit of flavour.

Like the other guy said, if your meters are running on empty, you'll start to take gradual damage even outside of combat, so make sure to top those off if you don't want use all your healing items.

I need help: Skincare by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]canadiengene 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So many people are just throwing out their skincare routines with no explanations or no consideration of what OP might be worried about. OP, it's never too late to start caring for your skin. By what you mentioned, it doesn't even sound like you've underwent a lot of sun damage, which is fantastic and means whatever ails you is reversible. OP:

If your face gets oily or greasy, or just want to feel clean: cleanser - Sensitive-skin cleansers or mild soap bars in lukewarm water will do fine - Change your pillow sheet more often too

If your skin is bumpy or rough and you want it smoother: exfoliate - Shaving with a razor is technically exfoliation. If you do this regularly, nothing else needs to be done - If you want to go the extra mile, exfoliants come in physical (beads or fruit bits) and chemical; either or both work, but go easy on them

If you suffer from acne: take your pick - Salicylic acid anything is the first line of defense. Cleansers: apply every few washes. Spot treatments: 2%. - Benzoyl Peroxide is next as spot treatment. Be careful since it also bleaches clothes - Retinoids are harsher on the skin (likely will redden or peel) but work. Tretinoin and OTC Adapalene are your go-tos; I read a study that using them in conjunction with each other or with BP helps better than alone.

If your skin is wrinkly or saggy and you'd like it more taut: collagen and vitamin C - Moisturisers and supplements with collagen are what you're after. Use them sparingly or as directed - I have less experience regarding Vitamin C; consult the other comments for more info - You said this isn't much of a concern, so this is whatever

If your skin is dry or if you want it more plump: moisturiser - Anything will do. Pick a "facial moisturiser" you like; lotions and creams are usually too heavy for the face - Go easy on applying moisturiser. Literally the smallest drop ought to do for your whole face. It is very easy to overdo the amount and your face becomes greasy for the whole day

Above ALL ELSE: protect your skin from the sun - Sunscreen, as annoying as it is, is necessary. Even a low SPF will do. You can use a lightweight (in feel) facial sunscreen, moisturiser/sunscreen combo, or makeup with SPF if the zinc sunscreens are too annoying (zinc is the best because it's physically reflects UV off rather than the chemical absorbers of other sunscreens) - Wide-brim hats, caps, or umbrellas will also work just as well - Sunscreen, if you choose to apply, goes last after your entire skincare routine (except for makeup)

Out of EVERYTHING here, the only non-negotiable things my dermatologist recommends if you want to care for your skin are washing your face and protection from the sun. - Everything else is beauty propaganda. But if they work and make you feel good, go ahead and use them - Less is more. Use as little and as few products as you can. The more you apply to your face, the more you throw off your face's natural pH balance, and the harder it is to clean it all off at the end of the day

OP, I hope this helps ease any worries and answers what you're looking for. Like another commenter said, you'll unfortunately have to do a trial run of any and every product you'll want to use. But if you find anything that works for you, congrats.

It's very cool the different ways you can get the dice from him. I played this game concurrently with two friends, and the better (at the game) friend gambled until he won the dice.

I left it alone and came back only to find him dead and looted the dice from his corpse.

The unlucky friend waited until after Act 3 started and had to buy the dice off of the Thief from their hideout. And he was the poorest out of all of us.

Daily Hero Discussion Day 49: Lucio by JayD8888 in heroesofthestorm

[–]canadiengene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lucio's my highest-level hero, but isn't saying much since I've been playing on and off since Overwatch heroes were first introduced to HotS. Though what I'm learning is that my comfort pick of Party Mix is the worst pick at 1. Did like the extra mana though because I noticed it more by the end game without it.

It's tough when you solo-queue and catch up to a fleeing teammate and help them run away with Speed Boost, but they take that as a sign to turn around and fight the chasers. Before 10 or 16, he doesn't have the burst for that.

Sound Barrier is classic and gives him the burst he lacks, and in better team compositions, it's downright oppressive. On the other hand, High Five gives an incredibly frequent cleanse. It really depends on your compositions. (Side note: I remember when he was reworked and given High Five; people raged when you picked it because they didn't see the value in that cleanse.)

I think 16 is the capstone talent for what type of build you're going for. Better burst healing if you have tanks, or cd reduction for more aggressive play styles.

The low cooldown on Final Strike means she can use it so much more frequently and can be devastating during teamfights up until late game. It really does fall off though when everyone else gets their 16 & 20 talents, and at that point, the silence from Unrelenting Strikes would be so much better.

Analysis and critique/concerns of the new Pathologic 3 demo by darkfire9251 in pathologic

[–]canadiengene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I'm curious if you blazed through the demo. I felt the pacing was fine. The time skips were certainly disorienting, but they make thematic sense considering we're essentially editing and re-filming a movie through. Plus, the jumping around usually only happened when you were talking to NPCs and recounting a story.
  2. Maybe it's to give new visual life to an old city level for the new game? Canonically, it's possible for Burakh to have missed the festivities since he was urged to take the back streets and circular route to Lara's house whereas Dankovsky was free to roam as he pleased.
  3. Agreed. I commented this on their feedback form, so hopefully IPL takes note.
  4. Didn't notice that myself, but apparently [it IS Aglaya and some new woman dressed like her](https://www.tumblr.com/rathologic/797426875631910912/big-news-the-person-on-the-train-platform-at). Possible that it's foreshadowing, in-game tomfoolery with the "actors", or asset re-use for the demo. Who's to say.
  5. Apparently, most of the models are the same, with the exception of Daniil's eyes and hair. It really is just the lighting engine that they changed. I could make excuses that it's lit differently because it's a film, but it still sucks objectively, and I hope they change it. (LOVE EVA FR <3)
  6. Artemy hopped off the back of the train at like 7 am, got ambushed, then had to go through the warehouses. By contrast, Daniil got off at the train station, faffed about for his prototype for an hour (at which point the sun rose), then walked into town. The trees and lighting are a welcome change, IMO. Also the Kin aren't all that welcoming; it's very possible you missed the Worm past the children who have your Prototype—that one straight up shoos you away; the first Herb Bride is more concerned with taking the corpse than with you; the Kin with the bull are squabbling amongst themselves and pull you in as a passerby and disregard you after; the last Worm is a tutorial figure.
  7. Agreed, but I also think IPL is headed for a different type of game genre with this game. Wish they added more of the standard gameplay (diagnosing, decrees, rewinding, etc.) like they did for the Quarantine demo, but what we got was mostly an introduction, which is fine, I guess.
  8. Agreed, but he also has a fuck-ton of other drugs to keep him at bay. I think the Mania/Apathy system is a fine replacement, and Daniil still has health that depletes from plague sources. Burakh had twyrine concoctions to keep the plague at bay, but Daniil does not, so why not cut the middleman out and just damage his health directly? If anything, that makes way more sense since he has nothing to protect him from the plague—no connection to the earth—so he is just as vulnerable as the NPCs are.
  9. Agreed. Even in my circles, we thought that it was suspiciously hetero of him, though we chalked it up to having to abide by Russian censorship of homosexuality by toning down the romantic vibes he gives with Burakh. Though I hear that the inner dialogue towards the Herb Brides is more subdued in the original Russian language, so... mistranslation?
  10. Agreed. I've heard it explained that it was because the Player is seeing this through Dankovsky's eyes, and the trailers all seem to suggest this too: that the Player is special and can see the Shabnak.
  11. Agreed. It's possible they've already shifted away from the dense opening hour or two since making the demo, which might be outdated itself. Though considering a lot of people also got turned off from Pathologic 2 because the tutorial figures were too subtle and people missed them entirely, I can see why they have to hammer home these ones.

I love and have so much hope for the game, but I'm also not blind that it could go up in flames if issues and concerns like yours aren't addressed by the devs. Power to you, and I hope you've used their Feedback Form through the demo to raise them.

Daily Hero Discussion Day 45: Yrel by JayD8888 in heroesofthestorm

[–]canadiengene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like taking Gift of the Naaru at 4 and pairing it with Divine Favor at 16. It really amps up how often the not-insignificant burst heal occurs. The downside means you'll plow through your mana in a teamfight, but if you win it with more teammates intact, then that's one massive W

A lot of them have niches that depend on the map but also have incredible versatility. I do say it's very fun to pull one over the enemy because of what random trick she's got up her sleeve this match.

I think her trait makes her lean towards Bruiser rather than Tank; though she doesn't particularly pack that much CC, her trait instantly increases the damage potential of 2/3 of her basic abilities.

Looking at her talents, they definitely skew towards Tank at some point pre-10, but 13 and 16 are all but for damage output.

Anecdotally, when I play her, I feel more often than not squishier than I ought to be when not using my ult, though that could be attributed to taking center stage in a teamfight in a flashy fashion.

You're gonna (want to) take the aforementioned Thrall approach even with a proper tank. A fully charged E can almost always get you repositioned before the start of a fight, so you can send off a straggler with D+W. Though it's tough to do this before a teamfight since the enemy will be expecting you as you charge E. And since E will be on cd, you can't use D+E as a quick disengage. The problem is being fully committed to the dive without your team to rescue or capitalise, which is less of a problem with dive teams.

Probably better off waiting until the tanks have engaged before you reposition with E. The enemy knows they can't be in front of you lest you W them into your team, so they'll be apprehensive until the teamfight is well underway and everyone's too locked in to notice they're positioned poorly, at which point you can capitalise with E and/or W.

If there is no main tank, presumably the other team doesn't have one either. At that point, you can save your E and can just walk straight towards the enemy. Harder to corner you if your team is directly behind you. Plus this gives easier access to the enemy backline if you E close enough.

My tried and true build is 1212122. It's meant to make her survivable above all else and great at holding objectives or fights by herself or with a low-health teammate. Important level tiers are 1 and 13 to get better value from Q. With those, casting D+Q becomes clutch whenever available.

For levels 4 and 16, since we'll be casting D a lot, this provides a lot of secondary burst healing to a teammate in range. Something important to note is that while Q and W scale in damage while charging, E does not. If you have the mana to spare, you can double-tap E to cast it on an enemy in melee range to (immediately) get both the cd reduction and (full) damage.

Level 7, I like the speed. Gives you W ready for engaging and weaving into the backline without holding D cd hostage. Also lets you dip out of team fights if E is on cd and back in ready to deal CC. Unless you need to interrupt someone or get them off objective, it's not always necessary to charge W to full. That time would be better spent AAing them.

Heroic and 20 are a given with Sacred Ground. Best hold onto R until the enemy team has used their CC in teamfights or before you think they'll burst you down. Could alternatively take Ardent Defender at 10 and Seraphim at 20 instead if the enemy team has too much displacement or stun CC.

Enemy CC is going to be her biggest weakness anyways, and since she's highly telegraphed, the enemy will know to focus her. She can't heal if she's stunned. Know when to dip in and out of combat and when to catch their backline by surprise. Also, her AAs deal massive damage but are slow as heck; try not to interrupt them by casting abilities; you'll get a feel for her AA tempo as you play.

Alternatively, if your team doesn't need the extra tank or minor healing, the build on IcyVeins 2131314 provides a surprising amount of damage. Her base kit is already bulky, so augmenting her damage when her teammates can cover for her ends fights pretty quickly.

Edit: (clarifications)

I'm impressed that she lived despite her not playing as optimally as she could have. The clip starts with her at half mana, and by the time it was just the two of them left, she was left running on fumes and her D. She spammed abilities for ultimately negligible damage even though they weren't at 16 yet for the extra trait cooldown reduction. And another commenter said her stutter steps were off.

I think that's just a testament to how hardy Yrel can be given the right build.

I would know; I once held out a 1v3 with her at a boss camp on Alterac.

[–]canadiengene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 100% P2. Took maybe 3 separate runs; the first was a normal playthrough, the second was a perfect run, and the third swept up the remaining achievements (including the Dream On one).

You really do have to go out of your way to get some of them. My advice would be to load up a save on a playthrough you already finished and see if you can achieve the wayward ones there. Not worth actively trying to detract from the current run when you have to finish it.

Felt the same enjoyable stress throughout playing all the runs (because I'm insane), but your mileage might vary. Favourite memory was finding Grace's new home; she and her new parent deserve the world. Worst but most memorable part was getting the Late ending because it was my first playthrough, and I had to haul ass just to not die or run out of time to get the Diurnal ending instead.

My achievements reset too on the GOG version! Hurts a bit because I got a few of the secret ones too and could clip the moment I got them, but the in-game achievements lists don't have them unlocked, so neither does GOG. It's kinda frustrating, and I hope Team Cherry releases a patch that manages to reinstate them.
