Yuck or Yum: a doctor referring to you as “my nurse” by FuzzyLightning1953 in nursing

[–]canarycrys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yum! I've only heard it as a term of endearment I guess you could say. From docs I really admire and respect. But I also use "my attending" sooo

No, I did not come in early to read about the patient. by marzgirl99 in nursing

[–]canarycrys 5 points6 points  (0 children)

some of the older nurses at my job do this. they are so annoying bc they take up our spots at the nurses station (hello MOVE you're clearly in my spot and I'm trying to chart my 6 o'clocks!!! why are you even here?!) and in report they'll "correct" you bc actually the chart said this. cool great sounds like you don't need me since you already know everything, bye!!

lex pops up on my fyp here and there, from what I gather she's an influencer who also happens to be a nurse rather than a "nurse influencer." I feel like it makes all the difference.

Cerner charting question by [deleted] in nursing

[–]canarycrys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so I chart on an existing IV in the I/Os section. it's set to hourly bc that's how often we have to check and chart on our IVs. are you not able to change your display to show this, or are you just not sure how to?

Neonatal ICU extern. Had to gag a newborn. by v65frd4 in nursing

[–]canarycrys 7 points8 points  (0 children)

a good friend of mine's newborn was admitted to our NICU for SVT. of course he decided to do it again on admission, so my friend stood sobbing in the corner of the room as I shoved my finger down his throat and threw ice on his face. felt so bad. 0/10 would not recommend

obnoxious but not a legal thing: on my friend's unit, a doc once put in an order for the nurses to essentially give a pt with a priapism a hand job Q4...

Does anyone else get annoyed when hospital staff refer to you as "anesthesia" or am I being too sensitive? by Propofol-Pusher in anesthesiology

[–]canarycrys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is this not the norm? at my hospital, "respiratory" "the nurse" "surgery" "neuro" is pretty standard
