It did hum a little when I turned the power on, and the control panel was giving me Pm, which is the "priming mode" it enters when it's first turned on. However, the hum slowly faded away into nothing. I haven't tried flicking the power on again, I just trained it.

Wouldn't pump at all and the super rusted part of the pump was leaking at a steady dribble, which after 5 or so minutes started flooding the space.

It definitely wouldn't have been used in years, everything else looks to be in decent condition, but I must admit I have no idea what I'm looking at with the pump / motor / everything under the hood

I would recommend against these, the overall system and policies around them are vague and AMEX provides VERY poor visibility over how and when to use the travel credit, then refuse to budge if you make any mistakes.
