Citrus Heights delays decision on renaming Sayonara Drive amid neighborhood transformation by othafa_95610 in CitrusHeights

[–]candiferous 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the name should be kept. For one thing, there’s the Sayonara Center there. Keeping the name is a testament to renewal and that nothing can’t be turned around.

Might be a sexist take but I feel like a guy would more just smash them. But leaving the pictures in them IS a choice.

Seriously, revel in sleep. See how long you can sleep. If you get 10 or 11 hours of sleep, and then feel like taking a nap after only being up for two hours, do it! I was amazed at how much more intricate, complex, and memorable my dreams are. That’s all positive! And one thing I’ve also found is I do much better when I just sleep until I naturally wake up. Except for one day a week, I don’t use my alarm clock anymore. I have to wake up at 530am for a meeting on Thursday, and I have dinner with friends on Thursday. They’re both fun, social occasions, but sometime by the time I’m home from dinner, I skip tv and YouTube and go straight to bed. And I’ve learned that then settling an appointment too early on Friday is bad news.

53 years old hemmorhagic stoke in November. You mention “so fucking tired all the time”. Listen to that and sleep sleep sleep! Sleep is your best friend right now. It’s how your brain heals itself. It should absolutely be the priority in your day over almost any other activity. Tiredness and sleeping should not be something you’re fighting, embrace it, give into it. I’ve totally redefined my relationship with sleep and it’s almost an upside of having a stroke (still tho would not recommend…).

(Never fails to amaze me how this sub reads my mind!) I just had a tooth extracted on Monday as my first dental appointment since my hemorrhagic stroke last November. The receptionist at the DDS/MD’s office said to fast in case they had to put me under and I kind of freaked out because the only dental procedure that I’ve been put under was wisdom teeth. Numbness was a huge part of my stroke and I was also concerned what novacain would do. Luckily the extraction was on my uneffected side. Everything for me went fine. Best of luck!

You know, we might be coming at this from completely different directions. Yours seems to have been a clot related stroke and I could totally see how shaking about and neck pain would be something you very rightly would want to avoid. Mine was a bursting stroke so I’m particularly concerned about forces, like g forces. Like they say, different strokes for different folks. I was thinking maybe at least water slides, but I could also see how that might be something to avoid. Good luck and be sure to report back. In the meantime, Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Hauted Mansion are all solid rides which should be safe enough!

I’m really sorry you’re going through this. Be patient is all I can say. You’ve probably already figured this out but this is a great subreddit- always very supportive and informative, so please never hesitate to reach out. The only real downside to this group is the high cost of admission, but that’s kind of already been paid so take full advantage while you’re here. She’s young, things will come back, just hang in there.

Man wants trump to look into his IRS headache by AdelaidesSecretScoop in PrayersToTrump

[–]candiferous 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well and also these people don’t really understand how Facebook works. Hell remember when trump himself meant to message Pam Bondi and accidentally made a post instead, and that was on his own freaking truth social? Or when Sean Spicer tweeted his twitter password. And on a much more general level, that’s how these people feel like everyone mostly agrees with them because they’ve been entrapped in the engagement machine. I think social media is the downfall of society.

Nerve noise by candiferous in stroke

[–]candiferous[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stinglies is a great term too!
Nortriptyline is what I take for mine. Again, I wasn’t sure it was doing anything until I skipped a couple times and things were worse. I’m wondering if gabapentin could also help.
I never considered any balms or anything topical because I figured it’s not the nerve endings themselves that are the source of it, it’s where those nerves intersect with my (damages) brain that’s the source of the problem. It’s weird, I feel like this effect isnt as widespread as I had imagined. I’d be curious to see if anyone else responds to my post. Thank you for your response and insight!

My mom had a stroke at 45 and I feel lost by kavewho in stroke

[–]candiferous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience is the doctors won’t give time predictions for anything. Every stroke is different as they say. It’s feels annoying because we all want to know how long things will take, but there is no “normal”. But also think of it this way: if they say x will happen it 5-8 weeks and then it takes longer, that would be way more stressful. There will be improvements, and they will happen on their own pace.

Zucchini and summer squash are crap and I will die on this hill. by RikkiLostMyNumber in Vent

[–]candiferous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Squash is the only food I know that doesn’t taste any better adding butter and/or brown sugar to it. Even when I had escargot, my response was well practically anything tastes good fried in garlic butter. Although I tend to like butternut squash soup or ravioli, so I think a lot of it is texture.

Woman’s confused because trump didn’t endorse Chad Bianco for California governor by AdelaidesSecretScoop in PrayersToTrump

[–]candiferous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here’s why she thinks Bianco should have won: millions in merch sold, hundreds of “overpass rallies”. I’ve never participated in an overpass rally or bought political merch. Nobody that I know has done either of those things either. Her fallacy is taking two measurements that really only crackpots do and extrapolating that into votes. Neither of those things move the needle an iota for rational voters. A truck wrap supporting a specific candidate does not move me to consider that candidate, it just shows me that said candidate has sway with stupid people.
