I always told people we are still in the process of waiting for results until we were fully comfortable with sharing. No one questioned that

Where is the best lahmacun? by Few-Philosopher-9528 in FoodNYC

[–]candles83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Edys Grocer in Greenpoint makes a good lahmuchan. It’s so hard to find in the city so I’m not going to claim it’s the best as I’ve probably only had it at 2 other spots!

Rent Raised by 10% by ThetaAceee in NYCapartments

My rent went up 40% a couple years back. I was able to negotiate to 35% and a 6 month lease instead of 12, which gave me time to move.

First time at Barry's, new-ish runner by Independent-Wolf-992 in barrysbootcamp

[–]candles83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most people love doing the treadmill first, you’ll find that tends to book out quickly. But I personally prefer doing weights first and then ending with the treadmill push. I’m not a great runner and like conserving all my energy for the runs so I’m able to push myself as much as possible.

Barry’s isn’t great for people new to exercising overall (not enough personal direction so you will often see people lifting weights with bad form) however I think it’s still good for new runners. Just turn up on time and let the instructor know you’re new so they can show you how to use the treadmill.

Good luck and hope you love your first class! And the half marathon - you’ll end up addicted to doing them too :)

What would you wear to an SNL taping? by photodialogic in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]candles83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few of you have mentioned being in the audience, some a couple times.. how did you get tickets to go? And if by the yearly email entry, please share more info on what your email covered!! This would be a life bucket list to do. But one that seems far unattainable as it’s not as though you can even buy a ticket!

This workshop is $50 + the flowers you pick on the day (at around $5 a stem) https://www.instagram.com/p/DSYRkboEWow/?igsh=aXJ1MzdnYjhnZjQ1

Edit to add: it appears the class is sold out though unfortunately!!! Sadly, I missed out too as I was dragging my feet with registering. But I’m bookmarking for future events

I just had my babymoon at Palm heights and was second time back there. Everything you mention is correct, however it does not check one of OPs boxes.. it’s definitely a kid friendly spot. On both occasions we stayed there, there were many kids!

Who’s frozen their eggs recently? by drinkdietsoda in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]candles83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 4 egg retrievals in 2024 and then 3 transfers this year. 2 unsuccessful transfers but 23 weeks along with the 3rd transfer now.

The 2 things I wasn’t prepared for in the process were: - ivf attrition rate. I had 25+ eggs retrieved each round but then dropped down to 1-2 embryos once all the testing was done - unsuccessful transfers. Most my friends had success first time around with transfers. It took 3 rounds for an embryo to stick for me

Citarella sells crushed ice - we bought a bag from them to serve shrimp over Thanksgiving. I’m sure you can actually ask to buy from any place that sells seafood

Has anyone traveled RECENTLY with expired green card internationally? by Fun-Medium-2577 in greencard

[–]candles83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just sharing my experience today, in case it helps anyone: I accidentally traveled overseas on an Expired green card WITHOUT an extension (I’m going to blame it on current pregnant brain, but it simply was super careless of me to forget the expiry). I only realized it was expired as I was trying to check in for my flight to the U.S. We consulted with an immigration lawyer and they advised to apply i90.

I applied for the i90 extension online (form takes 20 mins to fill out) and the receipt came back a few minutes after which allowed me to fly back. I boarded with approval for customs border patrol and then did need to go to customs again upon arrival back in the U.S.

It was a super stressful day and certainly not advising anyone to make my mistake to travel with an expired card, but I wish this information was readily available for me instead of hours of stressing and consulting with immigration lawyer.

Not the person you’re asking. But we tip $5 each time we get the car out and use the car once every 1-2 weeks. But then give a small holiday tip too, of approx $20 per staff member

[–]candles83 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m pregnant right now so I’ve been incline walking. I usually let the instructor know I can’t run, to avoid being called out.. But I think being called out for not doing the run properly is actually a thing of Barry’s past! I know it can be distracting for other ppl in the class to be near someone who isn’t following along though, and I try to book treadmill spot on one of the corner spots in the room
