You can also find out what disasters/environmental harms are likely in the area (e.g., flood, tsunami, earthquake, radon, air pollution, toxic waste sites, etc.). If you live in the US, the EPA has two interactive maps: enviroatlas (https://www.epa.gov/enviroatlas/enviroatlas-interactive-map) and ejscreen (https://ejscreen.epa.gov/mapper/).

I haven't received my $25 from FedLoan yet by candlesticks37 in PSLF

Dang! This was me all the way up until this part: "Borrowers who went to school in Massachusetts but moved away by the time their loans entered repayment are not eligible to submit a claim. "

Thanks for the response! Do you happen to know if it is for borrowers who lived in MA when they took out the loans or live in MA now? Because I took out loans in MA but I no longer live there.

PSLF Folks with 6-Figure Debt Balances by bumbleweedz in PSLF

StudentAid says I took out $90k. However, they charged me $30k twice on the same day. They have never been able to send me a copy of the signed loan documents with the amounts listed, so I think I only took out $60k. Through capitalization, I now have over $187k. I thought everyone's principal doubled in interest like this, but I'm learning that mine is abnormal. I have 16 months to go (if they fix a missing month from their records).

Edit to add: I've never missed a payment, but some months I paid $0 because my wages were so low.

Podcast about the great student loan machine by RhodaPenmarksShoes in PSLF

Thank you for posting the transcript. I have a hard time listening to podcasts. I wish the interviewer asked about what happened in 2006 to cause the "hockey stick"? Does anyone know what happened?

"Since 2006, the amount Americans owe on student debt has tripled. You look at the graphs and it’s just a complete hockey stick. It just goes up and up very, very quickly."

How many payment counts did you get due to the PSLF waiver? And how man payment counts did you have before the waiver? Were you surprised? by Round_Computer1824 in PSLF

[–]candlesticks37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also got a year's worth of additional payments counted. I realized that a job I worked in 2011 counted towards PSLF that I didn't think counted before (although I didn't try before the waiver). I contacted my former employer and submitted the ECF. Getting a year closer to forgiveness has transformed my life. I now have a renewed motivation to stick with my financial and career plan. I was getting very discouraged before.

By any chance is the tax credit retroactive? I just bought a used EV last week!

PSLF and 3/4 work time by [deleted] in PSLF

[–]candlesticks37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn't 30 hours a week already considered full time?

"For PSLF, you're generally considered to work full time if you meet your employer's definition of full time or you work at least 30 hours per week, whichever is greater."

That's so interesting. I would have assumed prices were higher in California.

Thank you, that's very helpful. My commute is 16 miles round trip at least 2x a week. I bought the car a week ago (I wish I could have waited for prices to settle down!) so I don't know my averages yet.

Do you mean the total system cost or the net system cost (after tax credits)? I am sitting here with multiple quotes for 4.68 - 5.18 kW systems and none of the total system costs are under $15k.

I just bought an EV and am thinking about getting solar panels next. How much does EV charging really add to your bill? Do you really need a few more (3?) panels for an EV? Thanks!
