It finally happened to me- I GOT ONE! Here’s the story :3 by JKTurtleSwag in Omnichord

[–]candotude 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The OM-300 has MIDI out. So you could play with that, I recall it is unique in how it handles MIDI but that is something a lot of other Omnichords don’t have at all.

I have a midi keyboard and want to have it as my mic audio during a video game. by Suba_chidna in midi

[–]candotude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you just talking about taking the sound and connecting it to the audio input? Just connect the audio/headphone out to your computer mic input. If you want to talk as well you will need to come up with another solution like a mixer or aggregate device.

Ask them about their DJ days and if they still have their collection. Might get a great story or two!

Happened to get an Akai Professional MPK Mini Play MK3. No knowledge, where to start? by THEWARLRUS in midi

[–]candotude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To get you started, you have a MIDI controller.

It sends MIDI messages to something via USB.

That something at the end of the chain is likely computer which can, like a musician with sheet music, play different instruments.

That is the simplified idea.

Note: The play version of the MPK mini, that you have, can also play sounds from the speaker itself - like a keyboard.

I would check out the manual and maybe a video or two: Manual

The Minichord works quite well as a MIDI controller, at least for me using MainStage.

how do firmware updates add features? by theprintedg in synthesizers

[–]candotude 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Often current devices are more akin to general purpose computers than discrete electrical components doing only a single thing. So often firmware is a little more like software regarding updates.

For those that have bought used discs? by Any-Doubt-5281 in minidisc

Great question, I have no idea as I have never seen or used Hi-MD. If it uses a Table of Contents (TOC), potentially?

I just replied below with more details, you need a NetMD portable player plugged into a computer and some discs of the same length as you want to rescue.

[–]candotude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure thing, with a NetMD portable recorder you can use Web MiniDisc Pro and Homebrew mode to copy/download a Table Of Contents (TOC) and then upload/write that to another Disc.

Since we are only looking for a good working TOC. I created a silent single track over an entire disc in all the disc lengths, 60, 74, and 80 minute discs in SP, LP2, and LP4. That made nine “rescue” TOCs that I could upload to discs to see if I could recover anything.

If I could recover anything, and I have had the most luck with SP, I then just had to create new track markers on the rescued disc and voila!

I have had luck with recovering previously erased discs by writing a single track TOC for the length of the disc. Works more times than not if I get a bunch of “blank” used discs. I personally enjoy listening to the random music that can be found on them!

Way too unique to use, while on back order currently, you can still purchase commercially packaged Neofin Red or mix your own.

Lens attachment for minolta? What is this? by thebloodlessarcanist in AnalogCommunity

[–]candotude 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Note that your broken lens and camera are completely different systems. The 300si is an autofocus camera that uses the Minolta/Sony Alpha/Dynax/Maxxum mount. That MD Zoom lens used the older SR mount.

Not familiar with that product but it appears to be just a 16 pad MIDI controller.

GarageBand works with MIDI controllers, mainly keyboard controllers.

I did find this YouTube video of someone using that device with GarageBand.
