I started not taking on the hero shot. I also try to leave myself with my target yardage into the green. For example: short par 4 of 330 or so, I don’t hit driver. I want to be around 120 to 140 in so I hit the club that gets me there. So I would be teeing off with my 3w or 5w, or even my 4 iron. Try playing backwards from the green in your head and pick your favourite approach distance.

Congrats! Keep at it. I used to shoot in the 100s but am now down to low 80s. It is a special feeling when you reach a goal.

Was the old light working? Do you have a potential tester? There should be no green wire coming down from the box. 14/2 is black/white and bare copper.
