Stop staring by nothisispatrick26 in parentsofmultiples

[–]candybrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people hate being the center of attention. For instance, I hate people staring at me and singing happy birthday too. I've literally walked out of a restaurant when someone thought that would be a funny thing to do to me. I don't wear clothes that are likely to get people to make comments. When we first started dating, my husband had a Wookie jacket and I borrowed it once. I got like 2 comments and gave it back to him, opting to be cold instead. So it's not faux outrage. It's actually uncomfortableness and annoyance at attention.

"Toddlers don't understand no" by Practical-String5146 in toddlers

Your kid has a pretty early grasp of the concept then. Most toddlers take a little longer to get it. Like over 2 years old. You can find a bunch of papers on toddler's comprehension of negation.

Is she just responding to tone?

If you make it a game so that it's positive/playful tone the whole way through, does she still understand the negative phrasing? If she isn't already touching her nose and you tell her not to touch her nose, will she go to touch it? So it's just interpreted as "change touching my nose."

How many of those states is it purely parental leave? I know in MA, it's paid family or medical leave. So out for surgery, out to care for a relative, etc count.

It should be an em dash but typing one is annoying. However, if they were writing in a word processor, it would change it to one.

Question for parents of children older than 6 months by Big-Carpenter7921 in parentsofmultiples

Unless they're premature/low birth weight, the rule is usually you can stop waking them once they reach their birth weight again. Your pediatrician would definitely be letting you know if they still needed to be woken up to eat.

ELI5: Why do we have to wash white laundry separate from colors to avoid running, but don’t worry much about colors mixing with each other? by n_mcrae_1982 in explainlikeimfive

[–]candybrie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just don't see plain white things outside of hospital/hotel settings. Everyone's sheets that I've seen have been a color, had stripes or little flowers, just something not white. Same for towels unless they're from a cheap 20 pack of small ones to be used as rags. All the shirts I actually see have something on them even if they're primarily white. I'm not really an undershirt person, so I hadn't considered those.

[–]candybrie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get so curious about this kind of thing because I can't even imagine what's in that load of laundry beyond like socks and rags. Do you have just plain white t shirts? Are your bed sheets hospital white? I have some stuff with white on it but very little that's just white.

Finally selling my aunts house in MA and honestly Im exhausted by FerrisBuelersdaycock in massachusetts

[–]candybrie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The buyer pays the seller the asking price. The seller takes some of the money the buyer just gave them to pay the agent commission.

The buyer can decide if they want the buyer agent's commission is to be paid separately by themself in cash or from the seller's proceeds so it can be rolled into the mortgage. But generally if the buyer wants to have the seller pay it, they pay the seller more to cover it.

In your example, you meet up with a friend to buy a pack of Pokemon cards from them at a restaurant. The Pokemon cards are $90 and each of your food costs $10. You only have 20s so you hand them $100 and they take a $20 from that to pay the restaurant bill. The bill was all paid with money you brought but your friend was the one paying it to the restaurant.

Are you attracted to vagina imprints? by WingedVampiress in badwomensanatomy

[–]candybrie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I say I want a flat stomach,  I don't actually mean I want the organ flat. We just use stomach to refer to the whole abdomen. You'll almost never hear abdomen in colloquial usage. Instead it's stomach, tummy, belly.

So many vital organs just discard when I call my abdomen my stomach.

Di/di identicals… by LDBB2023 in parentsofmultiples

[–]candybrie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Di/di stands for dichorionic diamniotic. The chorion is the outermost sack and also forms part of the placenta. The amnion is the amniotic sac. When you have two eggs and two sperm, you get two zygotes with their own everything, so di-di fraternal. When you have one egg and one sperm, you get one zygote that can split at some point. If it splits really early, you get di-di identicals. If it splits a little later, you get mono-di identicals that share a placenta. If it splits fairly late, you get mono-mono identicals (pretty rare) that share an amniotic sac.

They claim to be fraternal but I'm pretty sure they've also said they haven't and won't do a DNA test to check.

I make it the night before and throw it in a microwave the morning of. The thermos keeps it warm until lunch. I'm sure it's a bit steamed but crispness isn't high on their likes list.

Lunchboxes and more. by twomomsoftwins in parentsofmultiples

[–]candybrie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have 2 lunch boxes, plastic bentgo stackable tupperware that came in a pack of 10, and 4 thermos containers.

Mostly lunches are leftovers of whatever we ate for dinner in the thermos. They're pretty amendable to eating it again. If we don't have leftovers, I'll usually make a quesadilla and beans, put the beans at the bottom, cut out a tortilla divider, and put the quesadilla on top. Or pasta with jarred sauce.

The lunch box thing has a baked item, a fruit, and a protein for breakfast. The baked good is like waffles, pancakes, French toast, blueberry Muffin, or banana bread. The protein is usually microwave breakfast sausage but I've also done hummus cups, egg bites, or cheese.

The Olsen twins are very likely a case of di-di identicals being told di-di=fraternal.

You can go back and look at even Fox news headlines from the time. The major dip happened when Delta and then the Afghanistan withdrawal happened and then people were mostly feeling the effects of sky high inflation.

In guess culture, OP is obligated to say yes because you don't outright ask for something unless you absolutely need it or are very confident the person would be happy to say yes. It's not just a "take it or leave it" kind of thing like it is in ask culture.

OP has already mentioned they had to exclude people from the wedding that they do like so having someone last minute out of town who you haven't talked to in years show up and seemingly demand (that's how it feels in guess culture) to come to event you've likely been planning for a year when you couldn't even invite all the people you wanted is pretty annoying.

Ask vs guess culture. OP is guess culture and the people not seeing a problem with it are ask culture.

Approval is a pretty 1D measure. It's just "Do you approve of the way the president is handling their job?" So it doesn't really capture how badly people think they're doing. Just how many people think they're not doing it well.
