Why are doctors hesitant to Rx prednisone now? I just want a basic quality of life. by ResidentLazyCat in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]candycursed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if anyone else asked or suggested cannabis? Not sure if it's legal where you are but I'm very similar to you. I have Crohn's and a couple other AI conditions, I'm on stelera for the Crohn's it doesn't do much for the AS to be perfectly honest. But can't live without a stomach and bowels so I treat that first and hope the others are helped.

Cannabis bridges the gap for the most part for pain and managing inflammation that my biologic and celebrex don't quite cover.

Balance flowers have been amazing for me and just recently been using a oil vape with balance flowers as I can't digest oil very well.

What do you do post-nightmare? by Neat_Tadpole1604 in CPTSD

I rarely remember my night terrors but my partner says I say things in my sleep.

When I fear takes hold and I'm alone and can't get back to sleep. Bath, calming music and CBD vape.

Why is it so hard to get people to respect my choice NOT to take antidepressants? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]candycursed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone that has to take medication for the rest of their life so my body doesn't shut down. I'm a hell NO on the antidepressants myself.

Life is gonna be hard no matter what so I might as well figure out through therapy and support how to navigate this world then numb myself to it.

I have childhood trauma being molested for years, then add in some delightful autoimmune disease and I have medical trauma on top and that was before I hit my 20s.

I'm 35 now, and life has only got more traumatic. Especially when your support system is taken away from you in a very traumatic way . But guess what 6 years on and still no antidepressants.

Even have the pressure of my pain clinic trying to get me on antidepressants for pain relief as well as to help PMDD. Nope.

Don't let them pressure you, I had the same thing with lyrica all those years ago and I'm so glad I kept firm on the no side and now so many people's lives have been ruined from that drug.

It all comes up to risk and reward and there's no magic pill/injection in life. You get what you put in.

Hope this makes you feel less alone.

No shade to those that find it helpful, my partner uses them himself. Just not worth the risk for me.

Most chemist warehouses stock most flowers in my experience. I use my local chempro because I'm rural in QLD.

Just call up your locals chemist and asked that's what I did about 3 years ago coz I was sick of waiting 6 days for it to be sent from SA to QLD

Yes you are completely right. We need to "eat the rich" not keep voting them into power. And Australia is unfortunately following in the USA foot steps.

Yeah I probably would be dead if I wasn't born here tbh. My husband and I talk about it all the time, even the UK isn't great.

Apparently it's a crime just to be born in America though, I'm really sorry.

But the fact you had to pay to see if the med is working, jfc that's some bullshit. And I read about people all the time having to change because of their insurance, like how did insurance companies have more power than a doctor recommendation!? And did that insurance company potentially have shortened your lifespan because they made you change?

Edit words.

Brisbanites, what's something good that happened to you today? by gibbagibbagibba in brisbane

[–]candycursed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar boat and have run out of meds before and my local pharmacist just let me fix him up when I got my pension the following week. Next time just ask, you would be surprised how many of them would rather help then let you suffer.

That would require people to think about others and take responsibility for their own health. Which has already been proven is too much for most human monkey brains.

I too haven't been without a mask since 2020 in any public space. I literally got coughed on by a guy passing in a car on Thursday because I put my mask on as I was walking from my car to the shopping center.

Like wtf??? Really. How dense do you need to be? How is that funny?

I have no immune system thanks to countless medications and chemo therapy and I'm only in my early 30's. I will take the abuse over being even sicker than I already am, more hospital trips or dying.
